Members-only courts, and the four routes in

October 31, 2026·11 min read·Padel Browser

Of the 412 US padel clubs Padel Browser tracks, 62 are members-only — roughly one in seven. Between them they hold 138 courts, and 117 of those are already playable. None of them will show up when you go looking for a court to book tonight.

That is the gap this post fills: which private US clubs have padel, and which doors are actually open. For the reverse problem, see our guide to public padel courts you can play without a membership. For why so many of these clubs built courts in the first place, that is its own story.

A membership gates one in seven US padel clubs

The 62 members-only clubs sit across 23 states. Fifty-three are open; nine are still under construction.

What stands out is how small they are. Open members-only clubs average 2.2 padel courts each. Open commercial clubs average 4.3. Fifteen of the 62 have exactly one court, and only twelve have four or more. Private padel in the US is overwhelmingly a retrofit — one or two courts dropped onto land the club already owns, often a tennis court that stopped filling up.

It is also outdoor. Forty-eight of the 62 are outdoor and only seven are indoor, the inverse of the commercial market, where a lit glass box is the default build. Country clubs are not pouring foundations for a padel building. They are resurfacing what they have.

The four kinds of private padel

Country and golf clubs — 20 clubs

The largest group, and the most predictable: a golf club with a racquets wing adds padel beside the tennis courts. Addison Reserve Country Club in Delray Beach and The Club at Boca Pointe each run four courts; New Canaan Field Club in Connecticut matches them. At the other end, Isleworth Golf & Country Club, Fort Wayne Country Club, Greencroft Club and Edgewood Country Club have one court apiece. One court changes the social arithmetic completely: play gets organised and scheduled, never drop-in.

Historic racquet, city and athletic clubs — 19 clubs

These clubs were built around racquets before padel existed, which makes them the quickest adopters. Philadelphia Cricket Club, founded in 1854, and Merion Cricket Club both put courts in suburban Pennsylvania. Saddle & Cycle Club fitted a single indoor court under a 26-foot ceiling on its lakefront site in Chicago. West Side Tennis Club in Forest Hills — the old US Open venue, with 38 tennis courts — runs one regulation court that its own racquets page describes as an enclosed glass court on turf, with no overhead serve. Piedmont Driving Club in Atlanta and The Beach Club in Santa Monica have done the same with one court each.

Resort and residential clubs — 16 clubs

This group matters most for access, because a resort has a second category of person it has to let in: the guest. The Breakers Palm Beach, Cliff Drysdale Tennis at The Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne, Rancho Valencia and Snowmass Club all sit inside hotels. Others are purely residential: Fisher Island Club, Shell Bay Racquet Club, Gozzer Ranch Club, The Cliffs at Mountain Park, and Sports Club 111, a single indoor court inside a condo tower on West 57th Street. There the gate is a deed, not an application. Our padel resorts and hotels guide covers the resort side in full.

Padel-first private clubs — 6 clubs

The newest category: padel-led operations that sell membership instead of open court hire. Kith Ivy in the West Village, Reserve Upper East Side, Golden Point Padel Club in Brooklyn, The Heights Racquet & Social Club outside Minneapolis, Utah City Racquet Club in Vineyard, and The Arena Club in Chattanooga, which has not opened yet. These are the clubs with the serious indoor builds — The Heights has three courts under a 30-foot ceiling in a converted warehouse — and several cap membership deliberately. The Heights advertises exactly that: "Limited Membership, Unlimited Play."

And one that is not really private

The Bay (AFA International Center) in North Bay Village carries our members-only flag, but the gate there is residency, not money. It is the single entry on this list where private means a zip code.

Five private clubs worth knowing

Philadelphia Cricket Club
Historic Flagship

Philadelphia Cricket Club

6025 W Valley Green Rd, Flourtown, PA 19031+1 215-247-6113

Founded in 1854 and the first club in Philadelphia to build padel. Four outdoor courts at the Flourtown campus make it the largest private padel installation in Pennsylvania and put it level with the biggest in Florida. Tennis, squash, platform tennis and padel all run off one racquets staff here, which in practice means padel is coached properly rather than left to work itself out — the difference between a club that owns courts and a club that runs a programme. Expect organised Main Line play: leagues, ladders and clinics rather than casual court hire.

Cliff Drysdale Tennis - The Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne
Resort Guest Route

Cliff Drysdale Tennis - The Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne

415 Grand Bay Dr, Key Biscayne, FL 33149(305) 365-4300

The first padel courts on Key Biscayne, run by Cliff Drysdale Management under the name Key Biscayne Padel. Three outdoor courts, weekly mixers, express tournaments, junior programmes and corporate events add up to the busiest private padel calendar in Florida; Tennis Resorts Online named it a Gold Medal padel resort for 2026. One warning before you plan a trip around it: the club says on its own site that the facility is undergoing renovations through the fall of 2026 and that courts and amenities are affected. The pro shop is open 8am–7:30pm weekdays and 8am–6pm weekends, with lessons outside those hours on request.

The Breakers Palm Beach

1 S County Rd, Palm Beach, FL 33480(877) 724-4054

The most useful club on this list, because it is the one that tells you the price. Two designated padel courts sit inside a 104,000 sq ft, 16-court open-air racquet complex that reopened in late 2024 after a $12M renovation. The resort's own racquet fact sheet says the complex is "exclusively available for registered hotel guests and club members" — so a room booking does the work a membership application cannot. Court fees are $45 per person before noon and $40 after, for a 60-minute singles or 90-minute doubles slot, reservable up to 24 hours ahead, courts open daily 7am to 9pm. Of 14 certified instructors on staff, exactly one is padel-certified, so book lessons early. The racquet reservation line is (561) 659-8977, not the main resort number. Kith Ivy
Private by Application

Kith Ivy

120 Leroy St, New York, NY 10014

What private padel looks like when it is designed from scratch instead of retrofitted. Ronnie Fieg's club on Leroy Street puts three courts under a 35-foot ceiling on a West Village rooftop, with an Erewhon, an Armani-run spa and a Café Mogador in the same building. That ceiling is the tallest recorded at any private padel club on this list — 35 feet against the 26 to 30 feet typical of indoor conversions — and it matters more than people expect, because a lob that scrapes a low roof is a lost point. Membership is by application; there is no public court booking.

Residency, Not Membership

The Bay (AFA International Center)

1851 Galleon St, North Bay Village, FL 33141+1 954-801-7871

Four courts on Galleon Street, free to North Bay Village residents from noon to 5pm daily, with non-residents able to book through Playtomic for a partner fee the village does not publish. The facility itself runs 7am to 11pm. Padel here takes a minimum of four players per court, and every adult needs their own Playtomic account — a free one is enough, the paid subscription is not required. It is Miami-Dade's only free-to-play padel and the one club on this list where the barrier is a zip code rather than an initiation fee. Full write-up: free padel in Miami-Dade.

How to actually get on a private court

Be a member's guest

This is the realistic route and there is no point pretending otherwise. Guest policy is set club by club and almost never published: expect a per-person guest fee, a cap on visits per season, and a rule that the member plays alongside you. The practical move is not to call the club, it is to find the member. Padel at a one-court club runs on standing groups of four, and those groups lose people to travel, injury and schedule constantly — a reliable fourth who turns up on time is genuinely wanted. Most pro shops keep loaner rackets, though if you end up playing weekly a racket of your own is worth it; Racket Central is the usual US starting point.

Book the hotel, not the court

At a resort, a room reservation can do what a membership application cannot. The Breakers states it outright on its own fact sheet, and publishes the per-person court fee to go with it. Snowmass Club, Rancho Valencia and the Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne club run the same two-audience model, but none of the three publishes a guest rate anywhere — so call the racquet desk before you book the room, not after. Treat any third-party directory quoting a resort padel rate with suspicion; the resorts themselves are the only reliable source here.

Ask about clinics, events and open play

A clinic is not a membership. Rancho Valencia publishes a full schedule of clinics and private instruction "tailored to every skill level," from introductory sessions upward, and separately reserves complimentary clinics for members — which at least gives you a named programme to ask about. The Key Biscayne club runs weekly mixers and express tournaments. The Heights ran a National Padel Month programme through October 2026 and keeps an events sign-up alongside its membership page. Ask for the racquet director or the padel pro by name rather than the main club line: the pro shop is the part of a private club whose job is selling court time.

Reciprocity, and what it will not get you

If you already belong to a private club, ask your own membership office about reciprocal privileges before you approach the padel club directly. Reciprocity between racquet and country clubs is routine and travels with your home membership. Two caveats. Reciprocal agreements are usually written around golf and tennis, and padel is new enough that it often is not named — and a single court is the first amenity a club ring-fences for its own members. Reciprocity also does nothing at the residential clubs: a deed is not transferable the way a membership card is.

Where the private courts are

Florida has 15 of the 62, more than twice any other state, and New York has 11. Together those two are 42% of US private padel. After that it thins fast: Texas has 6, California 4, then Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, New Jersey, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and South Carolina with two each, and twelve more states with a single club.

The geography tracks established private-club money and warm weather rather than padel demand. The nine clubs still building sit in Florida (four), New Jersey, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas.

Private clubs are the part of the US padel map that is hardest to see from outside, which is exactly why it is worth having the list. If a membership is not on the table, the full club directory filters down to the 313 commercial US clubs where you can simply book a court, and our membership cost guide covers what joining actually runs at the clubs that publish numbers.
