About The Houstonian Club
The Houstonian Club holds a singular distinction in American padel history: this is where padel began in the United States. In 1993, The Houstonian installed the first glass padel courts in North America, becoming the birthplace of the sport in the USA and home to the U.S. Padel Team for over two decades.
Historic Padel Legacy
From 1993 to 2018, The Houstonian Club served as the official home of the United States Padel Team, which reached a world ranking as high as 7th. Mike May, who served as racquet sports director at The Houstonian for three decades, also led the U.S. Padel Association as president, dedicating himself to growing padel across America.
The Courts
The club features 2 international padel courts with synthetic grass surfaces, resurfaced in May 2023 to maintain tournament-quality playing conditions. The courts are lighted for evening play, allowing members to enjoy padel year-round regardless of the season.
Programs & Coaching
The Houstonian offers comprehensive padel programming for all skill levels:
- Private Lessons: $45 for 30 minutes, $85 for 60 minutes, $120 for 90 minutes
- Open Play: Wednesdays 6:30-8:30 PM for Intermediate/Advanced players
- Junior Padel Academy: Led by Chris Moore, USPA Certified and Top 3 Ranked Padel Pro
Whether you're new to padel or looking to compete at a higher level, the coaching staff brings decades of experience to help develop your game.
World-Class Facilities
Beyond padel, The Houstonian Club offers an exceptional athletic experience including four indoor tennis courts with Classic Turf surfaces, five outdoor tennis courts, and eight pickleball courts. One of the best service teams I have ever experienced. The grounds are gorgeous, the facility impeccably maintained, but it is the service here that makes it truly unforgettable.
