Shell Bay Racquet Club: Padel Behind Hallandale's Gates

Two courts are in use inside a 150-acre members-only enclave - and there is no public booking, no day pass, and no published guest rate.

Hallandale Beach is a three-square-mile city on the Broward–Miami-Dade line, and until recently it had exactly one place to play padel. It now has two — but the second comes with a catch: you almost certainly cannot get on the court.

Two padel courts are open — and closed to you

Shell Bay Racquet Club sits inside Shell Bay, a 150-acre private enclave off Diplomat Parkway developed by Witkoff and PPG Development. Its two padel courts are built and in use. But Shell Bay is a members-only community: no public booking, no day pass, no published guest rate.

Two outdoor padel courts inside a garden-set racquet complex, a short walk from the Greg Norman golf course. The membership skews golf and tennis first — a racquet campus that added padel, not a padel club that added tennis — so expect a smaller, more social player pool than the commercial clubs a few miles south.

What the racquet club actually has

The club's own site describes the Racquet Club as "set within a garden," featuring "grand slam-caliber European clay courts, pickleball, and padel courts." Auberge Resorts Collection, which handles hospitality at Shell Bay, bills it as the only private racquet club in Florida with all four Grand Slam surfaces.

That tells you what these padel courts are: two slots inside a tennis-first complex. Shell Bay did not build a padel venue — it built a racquet campus and gave padel a corner of it, the same pattern we have tracked at The Breakers and across the country clubs adding padel in 2026. Neither Shell Bay nor Auberge publishes a padel-specific court count; two is the figure in our directory.

Who can play

Members and Shell Bay homeowners. That is the entire list.

Ari Pearl, founder and CEO of PPG Development, described the property in March as "a 20-story residential tower with championship golf, a world-class racquet program, marina access and more, all within a members-only private club." No guest policy for the racquet courts appears anywhere on the club's site, and membership pricing is unpublished.

One thing to watch: Auberge's plan includes 60 guest rooms and suites, with the hotel debuting in 2027. At The Breakers, the racquet complex is open to registered hotel guests as well as members. Whether Shell Bay follows suit is not something the club has said — but an on-site hotel is the only plausible route in for anyone who does not own there.

The timing is odd, because the residential side is still finishing. The 108-residence tower by Kobi Karp Architects topped out on March 3, 2026, with completion slated for 2027, while the Greg Norman course has been open since 2023. Padel at Shell Bay is playable before most of the people it was built for have moved in.

Hallandale Beach now has two padel venues

The other one you can actually book.

PADEL LIFE & SOCCER on West Pembroke Road is a commercial indoor facility: three padel courts under 30-foot ceilings, soccer fields, food service, and hours running to midnight. It holds a 4.6 rating. No gate, no membership, no homeowner requirement.

A third Hallandale Beach listing owns no courts at all: Somos Padel organizes events, leagues, and tournaments at other South Florida venues — useful if you want games, not a place to turn up and play.

One private, one commercial, one organizer. For a city this small that is a genuine padel scene; it just is not evenly accessible. Our West Broward guide was published in September, before Shell Bay entered the directory, so it does not yet include the club. We will refresh it.

South Florida's residential padel pattern

Shell Bay is no outlier. Florida now holds a cluster of padel courts that exist as residential amenities rather than businesses:

These courts take no public bookings and will not surface in most padel apps, but they still move the state's court count, which is why we list them. For the guest-accessible end of that spectrum, see our US resorts and hotels roundup.

Where to play nearby without a membership

Hallandale Beach sits between two of the densest padel markets in the country. Immediately south, Aventura has four commercial clubs: Casas Padel Club at Aventura Mall (ten courts), Ultra Padel Club – Aventura (eight), Icon Padel Club (seven, rooftop and covered), and Cañas Racket at Turnberry Marina (two).

Deeper into North Miami: Platinum Padel Club (ten), Pulse Padel Hub (six, lit to 11:30 PM), Pepper Padel (four), and Reserve Padel Sole Mia, home of the Juan Martín Díaz Academy.

North and west, Fort Lauderdale has 10by20 Padel — five indoor courts, 32-foot ceilings, a 4.9 rating — with Padel Broward and its eight courts in pre-construction. In Weston, Weston Racquet Club keeps two outdoor courts and UNICO is building nine indoor.
