Boston's padel scene is moving out of the city
Massachusetts has six padel venues, and only three of them sit inside the city. Those three — PADELHUB Boston in the Seaport, Bosse Sports in Hyde Park, and Ballers Boston Seaport on Pier 4 — are covered in our Boston city guide. This guide is about everything past Route 128.
The suburbs are where the building is happening. The club in Dedham has doubled its court count. Patrick Mouratoglou's M Padel brand picked Malden for its first venue built purely for padel. And a MetroWest project in Hopkinton is assembling the largest court count in New England.
Add it up: 22 padel courts across three suburban clubs, against 13 inside Boston proper. If you live along I-95, Route 1, or the Mass Pike, your closest court is probably no longer downtown.
Dedham: the state's first dedicated club, now twice the size
Padel Boston opened on Rustcraft Road in December 2024 as the first club in Massachusetts built specifically for padel. In April 2026 it announced an expansion that nearly doubled its footprint to roughly 25,000 square feet — and that work is done. The club now lists six courts open for play, up from the three it opened with, plus a second lounge and a larger viewing area.
That matters for a practical reason. Three-court clubs in a fast-growing market run out of prime-time slots, and Padel Boston said as much when it announced the expansion: evenings and weekends were filling up, leagues and tournaments had taken off, and demand for private events had outgrown the room. Six courts changes your odds of landing a 7pm Tuesday.
Padel Boston
Rustcraft Road is an office park just off I-95, which makes Padel Boston an easy after-work stop for the southern suburbs — Needham, Newton, Westwood, Canton, Milton. The club leans hard on coaching: it brought in Pablo Alcantara Bailey as head padel advisor at launch, and runs clinics, leagues and open play sessions sorted by level, which is the fastest way into the sport if you don't yet have a regular four. It carries a title sponsorship from Wilson and books through PlayByPoint, so you can check availability and reserve online.
Membership is optional rather than a gate. There's no initiation fee on the basic tier, premium members pay no added court fees at peak or off-peak, and there's a cheaper off-peak-only tier for flexible schedules. Drop-in players can simply book a court.

Malden: Mouratoglou builds its first padel-only club
This is the one nobody is searching for yet. M Padel is the padel arm of the academy founded by Patrick Mouratoglou — Serena Williams' longtime coach — and it already runs venues in France, Greece, Italy, Turkey and Bali, plus US clubs in San Antonio and Zephyrhills, Florida. Malden is different: M Padel calls it the first venue in the group dedicated entirely to padel, rather than padel bolted onto a tennis academy or a resort.
The club's own site lists eight indoor courts at 735 Broadway, open 7am to 10pm daily, with a full gym, locker rooms and showers, a pro shop, racket rental, a clubhouse, and a co-working and meeting space — a detail that tells you exactly who they expect at 2pm on a Wednesday. Membership is advertised from $159 a month, with a one-time sign-up fee of $199 for the first 50 members and $299 after that.
No opening date has been formally announced, but the countdown clock on M Padel's site currently runs to early January 2027. Treat that as the club's own target rather than a confirmed date — pre-opening timelines move.
M Padel Malden
Malden is a genuinely different catchment from everything else on this list. Greater Boston padel has so far been built south and west of the city; this is the first serious project to the north, putting it within reach of Medford, Everett, Revere, Melrose and Stoneham without anyone crossing the river at rush hour. Broadway is Route 99, a straight run down toward Sullivan Square and I-93, and Malden Center sits on the Orange Line — making this one of the few padel clubs in the country you can plausibly reach without a car.
Hopkinton: the biggest court count in New England
Open Play is building a 19-court racquet complex on East Main Street in Hopkinton, the town best known as the start line of the Boston Marathon. Eight of those courts are padel — two indoor and six seasonal outdoor. The other eleven are pickleball: eight cushioned indoor and three seasonal outdoor.
We covered the project when it was announced, in our Open Play Hopkinton report. Since then the club has released founding memberships in limited waves but still has not published an opening date — as of September 2026 it is selling memberships "before doors officially open." If you are planning a winter of padel around it, keep a backup.
The model is all-inclusive rather than pay-per-court: padel membership is advertised at $199 a month, pickleball-only starts at $99 a month on an annual plan, and members get monthly guest passes plus discounts on lessons, leagues, tournaments and the golf simulator.
Open Play Pickleball & Padel
Hopkinton sits where I-495 meets the western commuter belt, roughly 30 miles from downtown, and Open Play is aimed squarely at MetroWest — Framingham, Ashland, Holliston, Milford, Westborough — where there is currently no padel at all. Alongside the courts the plan includes a fitness area, a nutrition bar, a pro shop, locker rooms, player lounges and a golf simulator. It is less padel-purist than Dedham or Malden, and more "everyone in the car has something to do."

Getting there: highway access and drive times
I-95 and Route 128 — Dedham
Padel Boston is the most central of the three. Rustcraft Road sits right by the I-95 interchange, roughly 10 miles southwest of downtown and about 20 minutes outside of rush hour. From the South Shore or anywhere on the 128 belt, it is the obvious pick.
Route 99 and the Orange Line — Malden
M Padel is about six miles north of downtown. Broadway carries Route 99 through Malden toward Sullivan Square and I-93, and Malden Center is near the end of the Orange Line — which makes this the one club here that a car-free player in Somerville or Cambridge can realistically reach.
I-495 and the Mass Pike — Hopkinton
Hopkinton is the long drive from Boston — call it 30 miles and 45 minutes west — but that is the point. It is positioned for the I-495 corridor rather than the city, and from Framingham, Milford or Westborough it is a 15-to-20-minute trip.
Indoor courts and the New England winter
Here is what separates these three clubs once the temperature drops.
Padel is playable in the cold — see our cold-weather guide — but New England winters end outdoor seasons rather than just shortening them. Of the 22 suburban courts counted above, only 16 are indoor: six in Dedham, eight in Malden, and two of Hopkinton's eight. Open Play's six outdoor courts are explicitly seasonal, which means the largest padel facility in the region will spend the winter running on two courts.
So if you are choosing a club for January, Dedham is open now and Malden is the one to watch. The differences between indoor and outdoor padel are real — wind, sun and glass all behave differently — so it is worth knowing which one you are booking.
Which suburban club fits you?
You want to play this week. Padel Boston is the only one of the three that is open. Six indoor courts, coaching-heavy programming, and no membership required to book.
You are north of the city. M Padel Malden will be the first real padel club on that side of the river, and the only one on the Orange Line. Worth joining the waitlist ahead of a target opening in early 2027.
You are in MetroWest. Open Play will have the most courts and the most amenities, and founding memberships are live — just note the opening date is not confirmed.
