Open Play Hopkinton: 8 Padel Courts Coming to MetroWest

The Boston area's padel growth has so far clustered in and around the city itself — the Seaport, Hyde Park, Dedham. The next wave is headed for the suburbs. Open Play Pickleball & Padel, a purpose-built racquet complex under construction in Hopkinton, will bring eight padel courts to MetroWest — the first dedicated padel facility in the corridor west of the city.

MetroWest Boston Is Getting a Major Padel Facility

Hopkinton is best known as the starting line of the Boston Marathon. Soon it will have another athletic claim: the largest combined pickleball and padel complex in New England. Open Play is rising at 124 E Main St, just off the I-495 corridor, founded by a Wayland local who left a 25-year software career to build it, as reported by the Worcester Business Journal.

The location is the story. Every existing padel club in Massachusetts sits inside or just outside Boston proper, which means players in Framingham, Natick, Westborough, and Milford have been driving 40-plus minutes into the city for a match. Open Play puts courts in their backyard — and it's positioned to pull in players from Worcester County too.
