Houston Padel Clubs: 21 Open, 90 Courts, 9 More Coming
Greater Houston holds close to a third of all the padel in Texas, and Social District's nine courts are the only ones still in build-out.
Greater Houston now has 21 open padel clubs holding about 90 courts between them — close to a third of all the padel in Texas, which carries 65 open clubs and 292 courts statewide. Inside the city limits alone, Houston has more padel clubs than any US city except Miami.
Almost none of it arrived with a press release. Four Houston-area venues and 22 courts entered our directory in a single September sweep, and the newest entry — nine padel courts inside a 10-acre retail district on the far south side — was added on October 6 with no opening date attached.
Houston quietly became America's second padel city
By club count inside city limits, our directory lists Miami at 15 open clubs, Houston at 11, Austin at nine and Dallas at two. That makes Houston second in the country and first in Texas by a distance.
By courts the picture flips, and it's worth saying plainly. Houston's 11 in-city clubs share 36 courts; Austin's nine share 58. Houston's lead is in the number of places to play, not the size of them — the median Houston club has three courts, and Cube Padel Houston's five is enough to rank near the top. The metro total only pulls ahead once the suburbs are counted, because that's where the big buildings are: Magnolia alone holds 31 courts across four clubs.
Treat "about 90" as approximate on purpose. The two largest venues publish nothing of their own. Punto Azul Padel Club, listed at eight courts, has no website and no booking page we can reach, and PELOTA Padel Club's 13 rests on a secondhand source that contradicts itself: USA Padel's listing describes "Indoor – nine courts / Outdoor three courts / 1 Stadium court" in its write-up, then records the total as 12 in its own court-count field. The clubs we could check against their own sites held up: Lobb's Padel publishes five indoor courts, SWIP six.
Social District brings nine courts to the south side

Social District Houston
Social District isn't a padel club. It's a 10-acre mixed-use development at 8003 Hall Rd in far south Houston, pitching 49 commercial units, four themed restaurants, a food hall and 312-plus parking spaces around a sports zone. Padel is the largest single piece of that zone: the project's own site lists seven indoor and two outdoor padel courts, alongside five indoor pickleball courts and two 5v5 soccer fields.
Nine courts would make it the biggest padel venue inside Houston city limits the day it opens. What the developer hasn't published is when that is. There's no padel opening date anywhere on socialdistrict.us, no booking page and no phase schedule — 2027 at the earliest, and worth reading as announced rather than imminent.
Courts: 9 | Type: Mixed
Twenty-two courts surfaced in a single month
On September 6, four Greater Houston venues entered the directory at once: Punto Azul (eight courts), SWIP Sportika Woodlands Indoor Padel (six), Lobb's Padel (five) and Casa de Padel HTX (three). All four were already open — what changed was our coverage, not the ground.
That's the Houston pattern. Clubs here open on industrial side streets with a Playtomic link and an Instagram account, fill locally, and never show up in national counts. It's the main reason the metro's size has been understated.

Three of the metro's four biggest clubs sit in Magnolia, roughly 40 miles northwest of downtown. Houston's padel centre of gravity is in Montgomery County, not the Inner Loop — a distinction city-level counts miss entirely.
Houston vs Austin vs Dallas
| Metro | Open clubs | Open courts | In build-out |
|---|---|---|---|
| Greater Houston | 21 | ~90 | 1 club, 9 courts |
| Austin | 9 | 58 | 2 clubs, 12 courts |
| DFW | 7 | 21 | 4 clubs, 19+ courts |
| El Paso | 6 | 28 | 1 club, 10 courts |
Houston leads Texas on both clubs and courts once the suburbs are in. Austin builds bigger venues — 6.4 courts per club against Houston's 4.3 — and DFW, the state's largest metro, still has fewer open courts than El Paso.
What's still unbuilt
Social District is the only unopened padel project in Greater Houston on our books: one club, nine courts, against 90 already standing. That's a 10% pipeline — the thinnest of any major Texas market relative to what exists. DFW's four clubs in build-out would nearly double its court count; Austin has 12 courts coming against 58. Houston's growth has largely already happened.
One caveat. Houston is the market where a club can open without a website, so an unannounced build is likelier here than anywhere else we track. The 22 courts that appeared in September are the evidence.
Where to play this week
Just one of the 21 open clubs — The Houstonian Club — is flagged members-only; the rest sell court time to the public or haven't published an access policy. The quickest route in is the Houston club directory, where you can check availability club by club.
For venue-level detail we keep three Houston guides current: Where to Play Padel in Houston for the city, Katy & West Houston, and The Woodlands & North Houston. Statewide, Padel Growth in Texas 2026 has the full map, and the other metro pipelines are in Miami and Orlando.
