PDL Sports San Antonio: 10 Padel Courts Still Pending

The 10-court build off UTSA Boulevard targeted summer 2026. Here is where it actually stands in October.

San Antonio has gone from a single public padel court to four working clubs in roughly three years. The next arrival is meant to be bigger than any of them. It is also late.

PDL Sports & Social Club broke ground on December 9, 2025 at 13735 W Interstate 10, just off UTSA Boulevard on the Northwest Side. The plan: ten padel courts, six pickleball courts, a two-story restaurant and sports bar assembled from shipping containers, and a rooftop event space. The stated target was summer 2026. It is October.

Ten Padel Courts Off UTSA Boulevard

One number needs untangling. Most coverage leads with "16 courts" — ten are padel, six are pickleball. We track the padel figure on its own, because a blended total makes a club look about 60% bigger than it is to anyone searching for padel specifically. Ten is still enough to make PDL the biggest padel club in the metro.

Ten outdoor padel courts on roughly three acres of leased land, less than three miles from the University of Texas at San Antonio. That proximity is the thesis: CEO Alberto Mosqueda has said he is aiming at UTSA students alongside the families and young professionals filling in the Loop 1604 corridor. It sits down the road from a Chicken N Pickle, which tells you how this stretch of highway is being developed.

Still Opening Soon, and Running Late

Here is the honest state of play in October 2026:

  • Every piece of public reporting on the project dates from December 2025 or January 2026, and all of it treats summer 2026 as live.
  • PDL's own website still carries a flat "Opening 2026" in the footer. No month, no season.
  • Its press release page holds exactly one item: the groundbreaking.
  • Four membership tiers are published — Player, Premium, PDL and Corporate — but each sits behind a "Notify Me" button rather than a price or a signup.
  • The careers page is live and recruiting across culinary, hospitality, operations and coaching. That reads like a club that intends to open, not one opening in three weeks.

The summer window has passed with nothing published to replace it, so we keep the club flagged as opening soon rather than invent a date. If you want court time in the next month, work from what is actually open in San Antonio instead.

The Format: Padel as an Entertainment Venue

The building matters as much as the courts. Roughly 14,000 square feet over two floors, built from shipping containers — a natural choice, given that Mosqueda also runs a San Antonio construction firm that works in them. Pala Grill, a chef-driven restaurant leaning on charcoal-grilled burgers and pizza, takes the ground floor alongside a merchandise store. Vibora Sports Bar sits above it, and the rooftop converts into a nightclub one night a week. Two patios add 5,000 square feet of televisions and live music. Mosqueda expects to hire 80 to 100 staff, most of them full-time.

This is the eat-drink-and-play model rather than a racquet club, and it is the bet a growing number of large US padel projects are making — Slice Padel and The Courthouse in New Braunfels already run versions of it. We have covered the economics in how to open a padel club in the US and what it costs to build a padel court, and the sport-by-sport differences in padel vs pickleball.

What It Will Cost

Reported pricing is $55 to $60 per group reservation through an app, with a member discount. Split four ways that is roughly $14 a head — competitive with indoor court time elsewhere in the state, and cheap for a venue you can eat at afterwards. PDL also plans leagues, tournaments and classes for children and adults, with coaches recruited from South America and Europe. None of it is bookable yet, and no booking platform has been named.

Those four open clubs hold 16 padel courts between them, so one PDL opening would lift the city's padel capacity by more than half. Two more sit just outside the city limits: Pick and Padel among the oaks in Bulverde, and The Courthouse in New Braunfels.

A Texas Expansion Plan

PDL Sports Group calls San Antonio a flagship and has named Austin, Dallas and Houston as follow-on markets, with Mosqueda saying in December that the process would most likely begin within a year. Read those as stated intentions, not confirmed sites — no addresses, permits or dates have been made public. Texas is already the deepest padel market in the country, which we mapped in Padel Growth in Texas 2026; whether PDL becomes a chain depends first on whether the flagship opens.

We will update this page when a date is announced. Until then, browse every open club in San Antonio, compare the rest of the state in our Texas guide, or check availability across the full club directory.
