Padel N9NE San Marcos: Four Courts for North County

Four courts next to CSU San Marcos, targeting November 2026

San Diego's adidas flagship is opening a second club

Padel N9NE, the Sorrento Valley club that USA Padel describes as the country's first adidas padel flagship facility, is building a second site. Padel N9NE - San Marcos will put four courts at 222 North City Drive, inside the North City district next to California State University San Marcos, and the club's own site now lists it as opening in November 2026.

That takes the brand from eight courts to twelve and moves it off the coastal strip for the first time.

North City is the walkable mixed-use district built alongside CSU San Marcos — housing, offices, and the restaurants, cafés and shops the club is counting on. Four courts dropped into it is a deliberately smaller bet than the flagship: no 100,000 sq ft campus, no gym, just courts, a clubhouse, a pro shop and a coaching team. The club's own framing is "your new local club," which is about right — this is a site built for people who live in North County and were tired of driving to Sorrento Valley to play.

What's planned

Four courts, a clubhouse, a pro shop and coaching, with the club saying its full weekly schedule — level-based clinics, private lessons and social mixers — goes live in the P9 app before opening rather than being phased in afterwards. Court access is not gated behind membership: non-members can book and play.

The courts are described by the club as panoramic adidas courts, the same line as the flagship. There, all eight are adidas 165 MPH panoramic courts manufactured and installed by AFP Courts to USA Padel specifications, with shatter-resistant glass and a steel structure engineered for US wind loads.

One thing the club has not published yet: whether the San Marcos courts are covered. The flagship's eight are outdoor, and the Padel Browser listing leaves facility type blank for San Marcos until the club confirms it. If you are weighing a founding membership, that is a fair question to put to the front desk — San Marcos sits well inland of the marine layer that keeps Sorrento Valley mild.

The campus angle

A four-court club at the edge of a state university campus is a different proposition from a suburban racquet club. North City's developers lean on the university in their own pitch, pointing out that CSUSM graduates tend to stay in San Diego County — the walk-up market here is students and staff, not just households with two cars.

San Diego already has a tracked student club: USD Club Padel, run through University of San Diego Campus Recreation, which plays on campus and at partner venues around the city. CSUSM has no equivalent yet. Four courts a few minutes from campus is the kind of thing that usually changes that — see our wider look at college padel in the US.

How it compares to the flagship

The Sorrento Valley club is the brand's showpiece: eight courts in the San Diego Tech Center, stadium courts for spectators, a full gym and recovery space, and a 4.9 Google rating. It has hosted sanctioned competition, including an FIP Silver event in 2025.

San Marcos is priced and scoped as a neighborhood club by comparison. The flagship's entry membership runs $199 a month plus a $499 initiation fee and includes unlimited free court bookings. San Marcos has a single tier at $80 a month — $960 a year, no initiation fee — which gets you half-price courts, a 10-day booking window instead of seven, and member pricing on programming. A $200-a-month add-on covers both clubs and takes the court discount to 75%.

That gap is the clearest signal of what the second site is for. The flagship sells access to a facility. San Marcos sells a court near your house.

The pre-sale deadline is October 25

Padel N9NE opened a founding-membership pre-sale on 5 October and capped it at 50. At the time of writing its site showed 22 left. The hook is a deadline rather than a discount: join by 25 October and the club says you play free for its first 10 days open.

Treat November as a target, not a date. Cali Padel Club has carried an opening-soon status in Mission Valley for a while now, and padel openings slip routinely — which is why our Q4 2026 watchlist is a watchlist and not a calendar.

North County San Diego is filling in

San Marcos is not North County's first padel club. Our North County guide went up in August and predates this one, so it will need the addition. The existing options: Padel California has two outdoor courts in Oceanside, La Valle Coastal Club has two in Del Mar, and Taktika Padel at the Fairmont Grand Del Mar has a single resort court. Further inland and over the Riverside County line, Rad Padel runs four courts up the I-15 in Murrieta.

Head south into the city proper and the choice widens: Taktika Padel at Barnes Tennis Center in Point Loma with seven courts, Kingdom of Padel with six in a converted Harley-Davidson warehouse in Bay Ho, plus the flagship. Our San Diego guide covers all of them.

What San Marcos changes is the shape of the map. California now has 44 tracked clubs, 34 of them open and 102 courts in play, with ten more sites on the way — and almost every San Diego County court today sits within a short drive of the coast, between Point Loma and Del Mar. Four courts in San Marcos is the first real push inland. You can check availability at both Padel N9NE clubs here once the second one opens.
