Phantom Padel: El Paso Is Now a Six-Club Padel City
Six clubs, 28 courts and a seventh-place national ranking the city never announced
Phantom Padel has been taking bookings on Doniphan Drive since January. Two indoor courts, climate controlled, open seven days a week — and until last week it was not listed on a single national padel directory, including this one.
Adding it brings El Paso to six open padel clubs and 28 courts. That is enough to make the border city the seventh-largest padel market in the country by court count in the Padel Browser directory, ahead of San Diego, Orlando and Brooklyn. Everything above it is Miami, Austin, Houston, or a Miami suburb.
Phantom Padel is not new — it was just missing

Phantom Padel
Tucked into the Upper Valley stretch of West El Paso, Phantom Padel is a small, unfussy operation: two indoor panoramic doubles courts, equipment rental and free parking, open 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM daily, booked through Playtomic. The club's own Instagram bio dates the opening to January 2026 and bills it as the first indoor padel in El Paso — a claim that deserves an asterisk, given Padel Point's six indoor courts across town. What is not in dispute is that West El Paso has had a covered option all year and barely anyone knew.

The 28 courts already on the ground
El Paso's scene is not one flagship with satellites. It is two genuinely large outdoor clubs, one indoor complex, and a tail of smaller rooms — and two of those clubs carry eight courts or more, a density only Miami, Austin and a few Miami-area suburbs match.

Padel 9
Nine outdoor courts on the far East Side near Pebble Hills, with a full bar and a 6:00 AM to midnight schedule that makes it the default for anyone playing before work or after a late shift. It is the largest club in the city and one of fewer than twenty in the country running nine or more courts.

Padel Paso
Eight outdoor courts off Dorsar Court, built on a reported $3.7 million investment with a full-service restaurant attached. Padel Paso is the club that signaled El Paso was serious — a destination build rather than a conversion, anchoring the west side the way Padel 9 anchors the east.
Courts: 8 | Type: Outdoor

Padel Point
A 44,000-square-foot complex in the Montecillo Westside development with six indoor courts and Clasico Kitchen Bar on site, developed by Gerardo Corona. It is the largest indoor room in El Paso and the obvious answer in July — see our guide to playing padel in the heat for why that matters here.

The smaller rooms, and one across the state line
Padel Ranch runs two outdoor courts on Westside Drive. Serve has one outdoor padel court alongside five indoor pickleball courts — a racket-sports and restaurant venue rather than a padel club, but a real court and a fair first taste. And just over the line in Sunland Park, New Mexico, Padel Club El Paso adds three more outdoor courts.
The Padel Company lines up 10 more in Socorro
The Padel Company
The next build is not in El Paso proper but in Socorro, a separate city down the Lower Valley in El Paso County. There is no website, no social account and no press coverage. The only public record is a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filing, TABS2026002116, registered in September 2025 by MRF Investment Group LLC with Borderland Architecture. It describes a new padel athletic center with ten courts, a $470,000 estimated cost and a completion date of 1 December 2026.
Treat the court count as provisional. The same filing logs the project at 3,182 square feet, and one regulation padel court is roughly 2,150 square feet of playing surface on its own — so that figure almost certainly covers a clubhouse, not ten courts. We list ten because the filing says ten, and we will correct it the moment the operator says otherwise.

Why the border keeps building courts
El Paso is not an obvious padel city by population, but it is an obvious one by geography. It sits against Ciudad Juárez in one of the largest binational metro areas in the hemisphere, beside a country where padel has been established for decades rather than years. The same pattern shows up down the river in Laredo, which went from nothing to 14 courts in a year. Border cities are not catching up to the US padel boom — they were already there.
Texas now carries 75 tracked clubs and close to 300 open courts, second only to Florida, and the growth has stopped being an Austin-Dallas-Houston story. Our 2026 Texas growth report has the full picture; the Q4 watchlist tracks what lands before the year is out.
Where to play in El Paso this week
For outdoor play with the most availability, start with Padel 9 on the East Side or Padel Paso on the West. If it is too hot, too windy or too late, Padel Point and now Phantom Padel are the covered options — and Phantom is the one most likely to have a slot free, because the city is still finding out it exists.
Our El Paso padel guide and the Texas directory have club-by-club detail, and you can check availability for every club above on its own page.

The landmark Palm Beach resort has two dedicated padel courts inside its rebuilt 16-court racquet complex. Houston Padel Clubs: 21 Open, 90 Courts, 9 More Coming
Greater Houston has 21 open padel clubs and about 90 courts — more than any other metro in Texas, and more clubs inside city limits than any US city except Miami. Social District's nine courts are the only ones still in build-out. Here's the full count, what we could verify, and what we couldn't.
