Southern California's padel map is about to fill in one of its biggest gaps. Padel California, the operator behind the state's first club dedicated entirely to padel, has announced its second location — and it's not another beach town. It's Whittier, in the heart of East LA County.
Padel California Is Coming to Whittier
The company's website now lists Whittier as its second location, marked coming soon alongside the original Oceanside club. There's no official opening date yet, but the plan itself is concrete: five outdoor courts and a clubhouse, purpose-built for padel in a part of Los Angeles County that doesn't have a single court today.
For a sport that has so far clustered on the Westside — Culver City, Century City, Hollywood — a club in Whittier is a meaningful shift. It's the clearest sign yet that LA padel is expanding beyond its core and into the neighborhoods where most of the county actually lives.

The Whittier build calls for five outdoor courts plus a clubhouse — a real club, not a couple of courts dropped into the corner of a parking lot. Expect the programming mix the team already runs in Oceanside: coaching, memberships, tournaments, and social events built around a clubhouse rather than bare court rental.

Padel California isn't a newcomer testing the waters. The team opened California's first dedicated padel club in Oceanside, steps from the beach on South Coast Highway, and has been running it at capacity ever since.

Why East LA County Is a Padel Gap
Look at where LA's existing courts sit and the Whittier bet explains itself. Los Angeles Padel Club and its seven courts are in the Culver City area. Padel Up runs four outdoor courts in Century City, with an indoor sibling at Padel Up - Culver City. The Padel Courts sit on Sunset Blvd in Hollywood. Every single one is on the Westside or in central LA.
East of downtown: nothing. Players in Whittier, Downey, Montebello, La Habra, and the San Gabriel Valley currently face a 30-to-45-minute crosstown drive for a one-hour match. That's hundreds of thousands of potential players with zero local supply — in a region where padel needs no introduction. The sport was invented in Mexico, and East LA County's deep ties to Mexico give it built-in recognition most American suburbs can't match.
Whittier isn't the only project filling in the map, either. King of Padel - West Harbor is bringing six outdoor courts to San Pedro's waterfront. Between the two, LA padel is finally growing in every direction at once.
What Happens Next
For now, Whittier is a promise with a court count attached — no date, no address. But it's a promise from the only operator in California that has already built a dedicated padel club from scratch and kept it thriving.
