About Westerly Municipal Padel Courts
History in the making: Westerly, Rhode Island became home to the first and only municipal padel courts in the United States when they opened in July 2025. This groundbreaking public facility brings the world's fastest-growing sport to the community at an accessible price point.
The Courts
The facility features 2 outdoor padel courts located on Main Street, occupying the same space that transforms into the beloved Westerly Skating Rink during winter months. This innovative dual-use approach gives the community year-round recreation without requiring additional land.
Accessible to All
What makes Westerly's courts special is their public accessibility. Court rentals are just $20 per hour for padel—a fraction of what private clubs charge. The courts are open from 6 AM to 11 PM, with some times available first-come-first-served and others by reservation.
Community Investment
The $400,000 project was fully funded by The Royce Family Fund at no cost to the town—a testament to the community's belief in padel's potential to bring people together. Pickleball courts have been added alongside the padel facilities.
Location
Conveniently located at 61 Main Street in downtown Westerly, the courts are easily accessible to residents and visitors alike. The coastal Rhode Island town offers a charming backdrop for discovering this exciting sport.
