About East Potomac Racquet Sports
East Potomac Racquet Sports (marketed as Racquets at The Point) is the new operator of the historic racquet facility at Hains Point in East Potomac Park, Washington DC — taking over from longtime operator Guest Services via a long-term lease awarded by the National Park Service. The club is currently under construction and is bringing tennis, pickleball, and padel (new to the site) to the waterfront park, with a grand opening expected Summer 2026.
What's Planned
The renovated facility will include:
- Tennis — professional courts for all levels, from beginner lessons to competitive play (inherited campus previously had 24 courts — 10 clay + 14 hard — including lighted courts and a practice wall)
- Pickleball — the operator is leaning into America's fastest-growing racquet sport
- Padel — added as a new sport for the renovation
- Clubhouse, locker rooms, and member amenities
- Coaching programs, private lessons, and community leagues
Specific court counts for the new configuration have not yet been publicly disclosed.
Transition from Legacy Operator
East Potomac Tennis Center operated under Guest Services for decades (the club holds a historical record in Washington DC tennis, with roots tied back to the New Deal–era). When that contract concluded October 1, the NPS awarded East Potomac Racquet Sports the long-term lease to rebuild and reimagine the facility. The current Google Maps listing for "East Potomac Tennis Center" shows 3.2★ over 42 historical reviews — expect a new listing for "Racquets at The Point" after the Summer 2026 opening.
Location & Getting There
1090 Ohio Dr SW, Washington, DC 20024 — at Hains Point in East Potomac Park, a waterfront park just south of the Tidal Basin, offering rare on-the-water racquet sports experiences in central DC.
The park is accessible via Ohio Drive, with on-site parking. Cherry blossom season draws significant foot traffic — the courts are steps from the Potomac riverbank.
Why It Matters
The project transforms one of DC's most iconic public racquet facilities into a modern three-sport destination, with padel as a headline addition. It's one of the first public-park-based padel facilities in the DC metro.
