About Charleston Racquet Club

Charleston Racquet Club bills itself as the Southeast's premier racquet sports club, located on the upper peninsula of downtown Charleston, South Carolina. It is a private members club with select public court access — a structure that keeps the traditional club feel while leaving a door open for non-members to get on court.

The racquet sports

The club is unusual in the US for the breadth of what it puts under one roof:

• Singles squash — 6 courts, including a blue glass competition court (4 open to public use)
• Doubles squash — 2 courts (hardball doubles, a rarity outside the Northeast)
• Court tennis (real tennis) — one of only 13 such courts in the entire United States
• Padel — 2 outdoor courts

Padel at Charleston Racquet Club

The club's two outdoor padel courts are described on its own amenities page as available to the public for rent, with paddles and balls available to buy or rent from the fully stocked Pro Shop. The courts came online in late 2026 as part of a broader build-out that also added squash capacity alongside the real tennis court, placing the club in the wave of Charleston-area padel construction that includes pATL Mt. Pleasant, The Point Racket & Social Club on Johns Island, and new courts at Daniel Island Club.

The club moved into a new home at 2045 Meeting Street Rd in the upper peninsula, relocating from its previous 1437 King Street space.
