Amarillo National Tennis Center

Amarillo National Tennis Center (ANTC) made Texas Panhandle history in October 2025 when it became home to the region's first padel courts. The facility, operated by Amarillo Parks and Recreation in partnership with the Alex O'Brien Tennis Foundation, represents a nearly $1 million investment in racket sports infrastructure for the community.

The Courts

ANTC now offers a comprehensive racket sports experience with 2 padel courts joining an impressive roster that includes 14 outdoor hard courts, 3 covered hard courts, and dedicated pickleball courts. The padel courts feature modern construction with the signature glass walls that make the sport so distinctive. The facility also offers ball machine rentals for players looking to practice independently.

I don't play nor really like tennis, but these facilities are state of the art!

— Snethers

A Historic Partnership

The padel courts represent a unique public-private partnership, with the City of Amarillo and the Alex O'Brien Tennis Foundation splitting the project costs 50/50. Alex O'Brien, a former professional tennis player, saw the courts as an opportunity to grow excitement around racket sports in the region.

The tennis center is wonderful clean inexpensive. They have indoor courts and a ball machine to rent.

Programs & Instruction

ANTC is renowned for its professional instruction. Instructors like Kenna Dubose have earned praise for their patient, welcoming approach with students of all ages. The center offers lessons ranging from beginner basics to advanced training programs, making it accessible to the entire community.

My daughter takes lessons from Kenna Dubose and she is wonderful! So glad we are able to be a part of it.

— Jessica R.

What is Padel?

For newcomers, padel is a fast-paced combination of tennis and squash played on a smaller enclosed court with glass walls in play. According to O'Brien, padel can actually help improve tennis skills because "it will help your footwork, it'll help your brain because you have to spin. It's a lot like ballet out there."

Location & Details

Located at 5000 Bell St in Amarillo, ANTC opens at 8 AM and offers court rentals at affordable rates. The facility features ample parking and wheelchair-accessible entrances. As a city-operated facility, court rentals and lessons remain competitively priced, making quality racket sports accessible to all.

Book Your Court

Contact ANTC at (806) 359-2090 or visit amarilloparks.org to book court time and explore lesson programs. Whether you're trying padel for the first time or looking to add a new dimension to your tennis game, ANTC's new courts offer an exciting opportunity.

Excellent facility that bends over backwards to assist their customers. I was traveling through the area and stopped in for the night. Dustin was very helpful and took time out of his day to make my time there a wonderful experience all around.
