Help me VAR check these calls?

031 commentsu/Obvious-Rub87343w ago
Hey all, played a match today and had 2 contested calls, one of them which cost us the last game in 3rd set. I’m a bit annoyed as I’m quite sure my partner and I were in the right for both calls. (We’re playing on opposite side) Please help confirm, was the ball in or out on both occasions? Thanks!

I'm 99% sure that both are in. First one 100% in as the ball attains backspin after the wall. Second one 99% in. Only reason why I'm not 100% sure is that the dude didn't let it bounce so we could see the spin. Both teams should learn to just play on unless you are really sure that the ball is out. Neither of these balls should EVER have been called out.

I mean “play on” as in not calling the ball out but continuing to play the point.

I mean, it is really hard to call. But both look in from what i can see. The second one seems to take a bounce which would only occur if the ball just hit the ground before it hits the glass.

I looked at it quite some time now. Both in!

If you listen to the second one; sound of glass hitting comes first In the first call; it was pretty clear as the ball bounced upward so if it hit the glass first there’s no way it can come up like that unless laws of physics have changed

The second one is far away enough from the camera than the sound travel speed can trick you. Both are in!

Then the second one is out, what you want my friend 😉

Easy way to judge a near edge bounce is: if outgoing angle > incident angle, it is in If outgoing angle < incident angle, it is out. It will work in general but note that spin does add inaccuracy in this judgement.

Finally someone that explains this properly :D I'm tired of people saying if the ball bounce up is in, is not if it comes from the sky and touched the glass before the court!!!!! :D

Both in.

With the exception of a lob, a ball that's out will generally be very difficult to return as it aggressively bounces back into the court with top spin and below waist height. A ball that's in will always 'float' up a little bit with underspin, making it a bit easier to return. Both shots were in here but when in doubt, replay the point and let the Padel Gods decide who's cause was just.

where did u learn this? Cause I'm pretty sure it doesn't make any sense :D

Which bit? Topspin = out, Underspin = in? Or the all powerful Padel Gods determining the result of a replayed point?

True!!!! We should’ve replayed it.
