partnering up – stories and etiquette?

hey guys. i’ve been playing more and more recently and i’ve outgrown my playing partners quite a bit. i’m steady at 3.5 and theyre maybe at around 2. my club hosts small tournaments, kings of the hill and americanos and i used to sign up to those with someone from my group but it’s frustrating. i feel if i had an equal partner we’d have a shot at some wins but mainly it’d give me the opportunity to be the one making mistakes to learn from and the loss wouldnt feel so pointless. now theres a tournament on thursday and i messaged a few people but all are signed up with their regular partners already. i’m wondering if some of you could share your parterning history and/or etiquette - did you start playing together? did you meet in a pick up game? when theres a tournament do you always play together or have you been cheated on?

I started my padel journey with a couple friends a while ago, since the start I’ve been playing with multiple partners and try to actively improve my game, but those two I started with won’t get into a padel court unless I invite them They keep asking me to take them out to play, I recommended they play with other people every now and then at the very least, but they won’t. Yet they keep telling me they want to play and get mad when I play without them, so I straight up told them them I’m no longer playing with them unless they start playing with other people too and up their game To me the etiquete is: you’re not married to your partners, and rather you should actively switch partners so you find cracks in your game and learn from everyone You’ll have more chemistry with some partners than with others, you should look forward playing with the people you have the best synergy with

you're already playing americanos, why not just find someone you enjoy playing with there and ask if you can grab a game with them sometime? as for "cheating", you know you don't have to fuck them, right?

Hey, I know this problem unfortunately. In my group of friends, I was always the most ambitious one, and matches with my friends stopped being challenging for me fairly early on — also because I booked additional coaching sessions. I got out of this situation by eventually starting to regularly invite strangers into our matches whenever we couldn’t find four people to play. Over time, you naturally find people among those strangers that you start inviting more regularly. That’s actually how I found my tournament partner as well. Do you use Padel Check to evaluate your Playtomic rating more accurately? In our area, that also helped a lot with finding players on a similar level.
