❔ Question ❔

How do you manage your americano tournaments logistics?

027 commentsu/Icy_Design6933w ago
Hey everyone, I organize americano tournaments fairly regularly, usually around 16–20 players on 3–4 courts. So far I've been managing everything with Excel. It does the job but honestly it takes forever to set up each time, and updating scores mid-tournament while also playing is a nightmare. Curious how other organizers handle this. Do you have a system that works well for you? Any tool, method, or even just a cleaner spreadsheet template you'd share?

Free websites or apps like Padelution.

*I actually came across Padelution before but having to register and enter a phone number just to get started put me off. Is it worth it? And do the other players also need to create an account or is it just the organizer?*

There should be an app for that, this is an example (but it's from Google Search): [https://americano-padel.app/](https://americano-padel.app/)

*Oh nice find! I just had a look at the website and it seems pretty solid. I also noticed they have free Excel templates for different player counts which is exactly what I needed in the meantime. Going to give the app a proper try for my next tournament and report back!*

Very obvious self-promotion. That app doesn't even show up on Google. OP is being dishonest. Please use the mega-thread to share your app.

I’ve tried a few apps and found this one to be the best: https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/padel-americano-generator/id6670318216 Simple to use and posts results to a webpage. Think you can use their site directly as well.

Thanks! Does it handle odd numbers of players? most tools I've tried don't manage that well

Yeah it does :)

Well you can explore those automations on WhatsApp groups that are based on the messages sent there and updates in a website(and possibly you can do it for excel/google sheets. On nowadays with AI like Claude or similar you can try to do this alone

Second this. Claude can build you an html app which you can basically use in a browser page and after the initial load will work offline too. It will look and feel like a website. Put all your requirements in as bullet points, if you're not sure how you want it to look describe your requirements such as "I want it to be able to do xxx". You can ask it to be able to upload data like your participants list via excel (it will probably require a csv format but it looks just like excel and opens in excel) or manually. You could ask "I need to be able to easily enter scores and results and assign the next opponents". With an html app you can send it to other devices and use it on a mobile phone or tablet, note that it won't share data across devices without more sophisticated app hosting and costs, but it will still work in a browser in that device. It will store the data and history (if you ask it to) in your browsers cache. This is genuinely a cool way to use AI instead of just wasting water on making anime profile pics. Claude will only allow you to make so many edits and ask a limited number of questions per day with a free account so it could take a couple days to refine. Don't mean to over explain any terms or appear condescending, just didn't want to assume any prior knowledge. If you do try it would love to see screenshots or share the html app... Good luck and enjoy

*Haha I appreciate the idea but honestly I wouldn't even know where to start and I definitely don't have the time to spend days refining a prompt just to get something working. I'd rather just pay a few euros for something ready to use!*

I keep it simple. I organize POZO americano (dont know how to translate that from spanish). 120 minutes total, 15 minutes game, advantages, if the 15 minutes end it TIE then GOLD POINT. if you win you move a court up, if lose you move down, (top being reina/queen, bottom being pozo/whell). You change partners trying to prioritize that there are new pairs. Just have fun.

Forgot (i let people chose their initial partner) I either just sort the list in random or use my knowledge of the people to start reasonably ordered by level.

*That sounds a lot like Mexicano format if I'm not mistaken? I just discovered that format while browsing the app* u/naripan *mentioned (Americano Padel Manager)* *It actually supports both Americano and Mexicano which I didn't know was a thing. Is your POZO format similar or is it something different?*

u/antonijo3w ago
Seems so, but here in spain we dont use the MEXICANO terminology.

Made a web app for that, in my case I organize three 10 people Americanos (two courts each, two hours, each match is 4 games) every Tuesday, at the end of each day the worst 5 of T1 go down to T2 next week, in T2 the best 5 go out to T1, the others go down to T3 and the best 5 of T3 go up to T2 This “competitive” side has made the americanos quite interesting for both regulars and newcomers

*Did you share it anywhere or is it just for your group?*

I haven’t shared but if anyone is interested in using it DM me

Small website where the players select who won after each game, then it tells them next opponents and court number. Or telegram bot with similar functionality.

*What website or tool do you use for that? Did you build it yourself or is it something available to everyone?*

Padelbord app. Players enter their own scores, everyone must have the app.

I’d suggest checking out SliceWin. You can run Americano, Mexicano, brackets, round robins, and leagues over weeks or months. It’s also flexible for player management: players don’t have to download the app, you can create them. If they join later, they can claim their profile to keep their stats and history, follow the tournaments, report matches, add match pictures. It handles real-life situations : uneven amount of players, sit-outs, late joiners, early-leaver, etc. https://preview.redd.it/h96zop1yg93h1.png?width=1464&format=png&auto=webp&s=d449aa480f882c35fff70aca17201c65ed4fafd7 It's completely free and available on the stores : Apple: [https://apps.apple.com/app/slicewin/id6739847140](https://apps.apple.com/app/slicewin/id6739847140) Android: [https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.miroir.elobuddy](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.miroir.elobuddy) Let me know what you think, I founded it 2 years ago and keep improving it based on user feedbacks!

*Just downloaded it, looks promising! Will try it out at my next one and let you know*
