If the ball is coming straight at your body, it depends on where you are. At the net? Block with your racket in front of you. At the back? Move out of the way and play it from the glass

If you’re at the back, you should be moving a lot and that should give you time to move and create space for yourself. Using the glass is always a good way to give yourself more time on fast naps when you’re at the back. When you’re at the net it’s still small movements to create space for yourself. Will take some tome to get back to normal after a long break, especially after an injury.

If we’re talking groundstrokes without using the wall I prefer open stance without rotation myself. Pros and cons to either, depends what you’re comfortable with. Little edit with more context: balls to the body are usually played as backhands. If you play open stance you ‘ll have more angles from the same preparation, as well as lobs and chiquitas. That’s the main advantage though the stroke is harder to execute. If you step aside into closed stance you can drive the same ball with more power, but lobbing or playing an angle will be a little harder to disguise.

Even when you have time to move sideways ?

Often, I prefer open stance for groundstrokes. Easier to steal time from the opponent. If I have that much time I might even step in and volley the ball instead. It's very situational though. It might also be better to run around it and prepare for a big forehand.

And just pushing the ball infront I suppose?

Depends on the quality of their ball. Short balls that don’t make you move are often easy to attack.
