In my head it’s a perfect shot but it never is

1320 commentsu/muazenakhez4w ago
**I practice 50 to 60 víboras twice a week. In my head, I’m hitting a sharp, low snake, but reality looks completely different. I tend to catch the ball too high and too early. Why can’t I get that fast, low, sharp trajectory in matches like I do in practice? The shot just doesn't look aesthetically pleasing. Any tips on fixing the contact point?**

Get a coach

Sorry for being so abrupt. But coaching will really help. And get a good coach - otherwise your current shots will become muscle memory and then it will remain. Also bad technique will lead to injuries. Which country are you playing in?

I’m my city we are top team There are Not much coaches. My footwork is weak but partner is fine since he is squash athlete.

You don't turn. You hit her practically straight in front, and lots of other mistakes.

I’m assuming you’re in the lower left corner. Three hits and three bad poses. You need to work position, stance and footwork. You need a coach at this point.

No one's mentioned the most basic error: you're not doing any footwork. You can't hit any advanced shots without footwork

I would agree. This is the first fundamental thing here to me. OP is not moving into the correct position (= step aside from underneath the ball) to even have a chance for the correct contact point.

I’d encourage OP to watch professionals play and see how different he looks when moving around. They never walk around mid-shot. Everything has to be built up in order - first position/footwork, then body stance, grip, prep, shot technique, follow-through, and finally recovering a good position again

The only positive i see, you go to the net, both. But from this point you have to adjust a lot.

As one other guy suggested: you are not standing correct for the vibora. You need show your opponent more of your side instead of your front body. Also hitting balls in training and in real games are two pair of shoes. Instead of focusing on doing the perfect shots I suggest you to first get more into positioning, posture and tactics. Because there is a lot of potential improvements I can see in just this 10 seconds. I give you one directly: always stay alert with your racket in both hands (one holding, other supporting) and up in front of you while you stay a bit lowered facing with your front body the opponents. And one more point: when you played the ball to the fence, this was a good ball because you was opening space. But when the ball came back to you you didn't used the space (the whole middle was open) and instead played the 'vibora' on your opponent. Instead of the 'vibora' every weak ball played in the middle could have made the point already. edit: while some suggest to get a coach - which you can definitely do, if you have the money - I would more suggest to watch some padel videos on YouTube first. Theres a lot of informations online.

Bro what are you doing with those forehands. Thats a frying pan grip. Get some classes or you are gonna stay at the same level

you need to turn your body so you can hit the ball from the side, not in front of you. So your legs/shoes need to point to your partner or the side fence/wall and your racket is very open IMHO, it looks like you are hitting it super flat in front of you, not to the side at all

You dont adjust your body, you dont adjust your grip, you hit the ball flat Do ypu have an actual trainer on those practices to teach you the technique and provide feedback?

Foootwork, body rotation, hitting the ball lower and from the side to give it the right kind of spin. Go see a coach I’d say, but there’s a lot more to work on here, not just vibora tbh

Nice effort on the vibora 🔥 One thing that helps a lot of players I’ve seen is objective video analysis. We build [Computer Vision systems for padel](https://paradigma.dev/cases/computer-vision-subsystems-for-racket-sports-products-tennis-padel/) that track ball trajectory, contact point, player movement and footwork frame-by-frame. Sometimes seeing the exact moment you hit too high/early in slow motion with overlaid data makes the correction much faster. Anyway, strong agree with everyone — footwork and getting a coach will give the biggest jump. Keep grinding!

first step to hitting something close to a vibora is hitting the ball roughly an arm length next to you. its much easier to let the ball drop low like that. practice a couple where you let the ball bounce in front of you so you are almost certainly far enough away to get the full arm in there and then transition that to the same thing in the air. also for your preparation make sure you are pointing under the ball not straight at it as that lowers your shoulder on your hitting arm making it much harder to prepare above the ball. theres plenty more that can be imporved but i would probably say those two things are some of the first steps
