Pain in my shin after a padel game

1011 commentsu/Which_Fig94255w ago
I’ve been playing padel for 6-7 months now . I play about 2-3 times a week . After my game , if I press on my shin it hurts and it’s persistent . It’s been a month plus where I have taken a break and play very rarely yet my shin hurts every time it’s touched . Does it happen to the rest of you as well or am I doing something wrong ?

Look up shin splints. It’s probably that.

Yeah I used to get them but literally just changing how my shoes were tied effectively removed them for me.

Yes very common issue. I also still have it when I play a lot after 250 games. The issue basically boils down to your legs being overworked. Rest does not help, it's doing exercises to strengthen the calves/glutes, better footwear and insoles. Shin splints are extremely common with running, tennis and padel. If you do nothing it'll continue to happen 😔

Ive had shin splints for 2 years, 1 year clean now. Recovery was very tough for me a few things that did help: Finding better shoes (not the huge chance i wanted it to be) Slowly training your calve eccentricly, and spamming shin exercises with low weights. Walking uphill backwards on a treadmill, yes i did that. Crosstrainer (training condition without much load on shins)

Could be tibial periostisis, do your shoes have enough cushioning?

Sounds a lot like shin splints or some kind of overuse issue from all the stopping/starting in Padel. Pain when pressing on the shin, especially after playing, is pretty common with that. A few things that usually help: - proper court shoes with good support - calf/shin strengthening - stretching calves after sessions - reducing volume for a bit - avoiding hard surfaces outside padel too But if it’s been persistent for over a month even with rest, I’d honestly get it checked out. Better to rule out a stress injury early than push through it.

Go and get deep tissue massage. Will hurt but you will feel better after. And getting good shoes helps.

What personally helps for me is that before a match i spent some time with a lacrosse ball. I massage my shins with it and my feet with it. I also do some ankle rotations. Takes about 5 minutes but helped me a lot.
