I'll start by saying there's different schools of volley (pádel in general) teaching, I adhere to Pratto's methodology.
Things I would correct:
- You don't *always* have to make the step through when hitting the ball, it's not always necessary (if the ball comes at you at the perfect speed and placement for example) and sometimes it can be counterproductive to your shot, so read the ball and don't do it every single time just because you were told you're supposed to.
- As many have said, your forehand swing is a bit too long (the up to down motion is on point though, just shorten the swing) and your backhand impact is usually too close to your body, generate a bit more space there by impacting the ball a bit further away from you.
- In every single volley in the video you're impacting the ball while making a slight jump (sometimes attempting to take a step through, sometimes just because) this is a mistake. The power on horizontal shots in padel doesn't come from your legs or from your arm, it mainly comes from the rotation of your torso. If your feet are not touching the ground, there is no way to generate torque and in turn to generate strength from the rotation of your torso, this is the same reason you don't jump to hit overhead shots unless you have to (because maybe the ball is too far away to hit without jumping).
Interesting. So instead of focusing on generating forward movement, I should focus on rotating my my shoulders and hips and let the feet land however they land? I'll try this next week.
This is the best advice. Although some others are also pointing things of this, I think this complete feedback will improve your volleys the most.
Stand still and use the rotation of your body more.
