How does it affect your racket and performance?

You don't need to damage the equipment irreparably to understand what happens. If you leave a racket face up for a few minutes in the sun during the summer heat you will very likely be able to tell which side was exposed to the sun and which one wasn't almost immediately. The exposed side will be much softer and harder to control. You'll have trouble blocking heavy balls without the ball trampolining away. The rubber in the summer heat can get crazy difficult to control even if you're not purposely leaving it in the sun.

Does the material feel different or are both performance and quality the same even after being in the sun?

It isn't in the sun, it's in my car, in a bag, in the trunk. I never notice any difference in how it feels. When I damaged my racket by hitting it on the floor, it externally did not look broken at all, no chip or dent or mark even. But the very next ball I hit, I was like "nope, this racket is done" I've never had an issue like that from the heat or the cold
