Garmin tracking indoor vs outdoor

25 commentsu/theakajakob1w ago
Hi all. If I play indoor, with GPS off (clearly), my stats for moving time are around 2-5 minutes and the total distance less than 1 km. If I play outdoor, my moving time is around 50 minutes and the distance around 4-5 kilometers. Does it happen to everyone? How is it possible that Garbin built in indoor padel activity underestimates it so badly? On a side note, the calories and training effect are consistent ...

My movement tracking is rubbish on mine whether I'm indoor or outdoor but I don't really care I just look at all the other metrics and find steps done to be helpful enough.

None of the watches can accurately track minute movements with their basic gps systems so it’s all irrelevant. The best way to evaluate your workout is with your hr data

That wasn't the question though. Garmin tracks the important metrics of padel games disregarding movement data anyway. By the way, I believe movement tracking by gps is very accurate

GPS tracking accuracy on a watch is ~3-10m. Meaning the watch barely knows if you are in or outside the court. It is not precise

Yes, just disregard any distance or speed metrics if you are tracking “indoors” same for any sport you track indoors without GPS with Garmin
