  2. Where on your body is most impacted by padel games...
❔ Question ❔

Where on your body is most impacted by padel games? Anyone else feel it mostly in the hips?

I’ve usually play anywhere from 2-5 x 90 minute games a week with 3 being the sweet spot for perfect recovery. My calves and cardio could do 7 games a week but my hips and as an extension my back start to get stiff in the 4/5 range. I feel nothing on arms or shoulders. Where are you affected? I believe it’s calves for many people and obviously there’s the elbow for some. It would be interesting to hear other people’s stories. For reference I’m 33 and very active but a tall heavy man so padel impact is a lot.

Hip flexors and calves for me. Everything else is fine.

Do you play a lot? Hips are definitely slowest thing to recover for me too, of course I’m trying to do strength work for them but it’s hard when they’re already under a lot of fatigue from my games

I also have a big problem with my hip flexors and I'm not tall or that big, but I wonder if being a cyclist restricts my flexibility. I've been trying to warm up with leg swings and thoracic upper torso twists. Apparently the lower back will compensate on rotation of the upper back isn't loose enough. I also have been trying to stretch and do a few laps in the pool after a game. I think getting into the car straight away and cooling that way is a big perpetrator for the hips seizing up.

🎵🎵 "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes" 🎵🎵 Jokes asite, my knees are the most impacted. It is the only part where I really feel a bit of pain after my matches. Not during, but just after and the night after, when lying down or sitting.

Well I got an ACL tear one year and some ago, that is a lingering painful thing now. Second issue I have is feet, plantar fascitis, in mornings I can't get out of my bed and walk.

Ooh that’s one of my biggest fears to be honest, along with an Achilles snap. That must suck with the feet, I assume you have a top quality shoe set up?

The ACL I inflicted upon myself, I played a full match of the highest level I can participate in, then drove to another club and played a social 10 minutes after. 4hrs of padel in a row, I ruptured my acl at the last 10 mins of the social. The muscles got fatigued and all the ligament protection they offer went to shit... I was stupid.

Knees and lower back (although lower back is mostly impacted by having bad hips)

I played a 2 hour game yesterday and my legs were dead. I def need to hit leg day consistently to develop strength there. I also don’t stretch after the game which I feel will help if I incorporate that into my routine. Anyone know some easy stretches before and after the game that won’t take more than 5 minutes?

This warm-up routine takes only 10 min. I find it excellent. https://youtu.be/e1hhnjwBd10?is=8s9sJ_H94XV3R7qG

33 and same body type (tall, heavy build). 3x/week is my sweet spot too. For me it's the adductors that scream first — all the lunging to the side wall adds up fast. Calves are fine, elbow is fine, shoulders never fatigue. What surprised me: hip flexors. Never felt that in tennis or football, but padel with all the low split-steps and quick direction changes fires them up a lot. Cardio-wise could easily do 5+ per week, but recovery on the fascia/tendon side forces the cap. That seems to be the pattern in our body type.

Lumbars! I wear a faja and refuse to bend with my back to pick up ball

Hip flexors, wrist and ankles

First year mainly wrist and as I was progressing with smashes I got kind of an shoulder impingement. But this was through pushing Padel a lot and playing way more often than my body was capable of. Now in my second year I am also fighting a lot with my hips, lower back and now also a bit with my knees. I am playing around 4-5x each 2-3 hours each which is probably a too fast increase for my body. So finally I decided to take action and go additionally to the gym and stretch. After the gym I feel a huge relieve in my whole lower body. Also I just train lower body in the gym. In the future I will probably also do upper body. But for the next half of a year I decided to just concentrate on my problem areas. I also found out that it's really helpful to stretch some parts after the padel games. I stretch the neck, breast, calves, quad, hip flexors. I think a lot of problems I'm facing are coming from my sitting job + sitting aside from the job a lot. So I also see a lot of progress by correcting my sitting position (I was definitely not sitting healthy by pushing my shoulders in front to the keyboard and rounding my back) and switchting between sitting and standing. And to be honest I also thinking of creating a small workplace on the ground so I can sit on the ground and very there a lot more with more healthy sitting positions - I am obviously working from home office because otherwise this probably would be pretty much weird.

Mainly around the hips and lower back, but i install floors 8-10 hours a day and that why I think they fatigue fastest. Also had an acl and meniscus tear 3 years ago, but some single legged squads before my matches, will do the trick. I play 3-4 times a week, 2 hour games. 31 years old

I only play 2 x 90 minute games a week most weeks, and even at that my hips / lower back / ass definitely feel overworked and underappreciated 😅 I'm tall and skinny and definitely need to be doing more strength and mobility training but life gets in the way

Hips … I’m going the physio tomorrow. It’s the combination of a job sitting down, so tight hip flexors, and then age. I play at least 5 days a week. Sauna and a cold plunge really helps, but I’m usually my own worst enemy because I don’t warm down and I’ll drive home, which makes my hips and lower back stiffen up

Calves and Tibias probably right?

As a heavier player: feet and knees! Invest in proper footwear. Your body will thank you for it.

My shins are a wreck, I can't play more than twice a week because of it.

I think your shoes are too small 😄 I had a similar issue with some shoes before. Try sizing up 1 or a half size!

Work on your form. If you’re sure your form is ok, work on hip stability. Hip ab and adduction and hip in and external rotations. Do them isolated first then incorporate them with your lower body and core.

Ya I’ve been working on this stuff but tbh I ignored my hips for years and have anterior pelvic tilt so now that I’ve identified these issues I’m making big improvements but it’s 20 years of bad posture to undo

Calves and racket forearm. Also feet because I am flat footed.

Coming from tennis and playing Padel for 3-4 years I had a patellar tendinitis injury that I finally recovered after 1 year. Take care of your knees and back people!

The elbow gets sore. I play about 2-3x a week and that's all I can really handle
