I had the same. If the feeling was like you got hit with a ball it's probably a partial tear. I was out for two months. Few days of laying down(ice) at first, the pain goes away fairly quickly. If there's no hematoma on the calf that's a great sign. Note that you will probably have bruising lower around your ankle which is normal. It will also swell after walking for weeks. I returned to work 3-4 days after injury but if you can, rest for a bit longer. When you're pain free, look for some excersises for the injured calf, they're pretty simple and can be done whenever and wherever. The goal is to strenghten the muscle so it stops shaking while doing those exercises After two months I returned to padel and it took me 3-4 games to feel and move normal again.
All of this is only my personal experience, I did not go to the doctor. Also,it is normal that sometimes the muscle doesn't repair itself to look the same as before injury. A dent can be visible but it's no problem if the muscle is strong as before.
Again, only my experience. Hope it helps.
Thanks for such a detailed reply!!
