Rules right left

Hello, I saw in the rules that at the beginning of each set, the order of who receives must be decided and cannot be changed. So let’s say I receive serves as the player on the left. At the moment of serving, am I allowed to play on the left for the entire duration of the set as well? So that would mean I play on the right when receiving and on the left when attacking.

If you receive the first serve of a set on the left, then you receive every serve on that side until the end of a set. After that you can move to hit the ball wherever you want, even outside the door. In general you can stand wherever you want on the court. You can even stand on the right side when your right side partner is receiving the serve. The rule is each player receives a serve from a different side and that’s it. You can even stand on the right side and run to the left to receive the serve if left is the side you chose.

You can't hit it outside the door if out of the court play is not allowed. Just a minor correction. 😊

That’s not entirely true. You can still hit the ball outside the door even if the out of the court play is not allowed - then it is just out. Regardless I never said anything about hitting the ball outside the door, I said that a player can move outside the door (though it wouldn’t be very smart if the ball is in court).

Yes thats i know. But After losing the first point it’s 0–1, and now that we have the serve, can I play on the left and serve? Or since I was on the right when receiving, do I have to stay on the right when it’s our service game? The idea is that with my partner, I’m better offensively, so the goal is for me to play on the left when we serve. But my returns are still not very good, so I prefer to receive on the right.

when your team is serving, as long as the server hits the serve from the correct spot, nothing else matters. you and your partner can stand wherever you like. Most teams stay left/right consistently regardless of who is serving. So yes, you can receive on the right, and when you/your partner are serving, you can play on the left.

While your partner is serving, there are no rules on where you must stand. You can stand wherever. Left, right, front, back.

The person above has already answered your question. You can stand wherever you like on the court, as long as you return the serve on the same side for the entire set.

The rule only applies to receiving team. After you return the serve, you can move whereever you want on the pitch as long it's on your side. For all it matters, you could do a double blackflip and stand in the middle of the court next to the net as long as you don't touch it. Even if you jump over the net and your foot touch the floor after the ball is out or has bounced twice, that's good. The same applies when your teammate serves. You can be anywhere you want in your half of the court.
