Are you applying the new serve rules in your games?

Want to know how many of you are applying yourself or enforcing on rivals the new FIP serve rules. Specially on the point that the ball can’t be hit over the projection of the service line.

I see people step clear over the line to hit their serve, as long as it's not a competitive game 🤷

I tell them unless it's a major violation. If they are standing slightly on the line or the ball is not too high above the waistline, I let it go. I am of course stricter if I am not able to return the serve. Then double standards apply. 😛

In the games I play over the net and on the service box is classed as a “great serve” so tbh unless your pro or close to it it feels like something you can’t really enforce. Especially in games self umpired

İ tell them after the game if they violated it. Mostly because its an unfair advantage. İ also tell them all the other new rules so it sounds more like a "just to let you know" instead of a "you are doing it wrong".

That's the main thing imo, inform people to educate not for the purposes of just telling people off and complaining.

Honestly, in 2 years playing padel, 3-4 times a week, I've only complained twice about someone else's serve (because they were hitting the ball at around neck high). If I didn't complain about serving height unless it was that egregious, I'm for sure not going to complain about a few centimeters left or right.

On monday I had to tell a friend to stand in the correct serving box. He was bouncing cross but stepping in the box in front

I try to enforce myself, but the habit is pretty ingrained when serving to the middle, so I struggle a bit. I wouldn't mind getting called out on it, and have wanted to do it a couple of times on myself, but that feels somehow socially silly and abrupts the game.

Yes but it seems that nobody is caring about them.

nah, who is enforcing service rules in their game, a good serve only should get initiative anyway. Getting into wether he hit 5 cm up or 5 cm close will probably detract of my own return more than just being concentrated and focusing on returning.
