I made another free Padel Americano app, only this time you won't be able to pronunciate it

I built a padel Americano app called **Satzpunkt**. In German, `Satz` means `set` and `Punkt` means `point`, so it basically means **set point**. So I built it mainly because I was annoyed enough by the existing options that I finally stopped complaining and just built the thing I actually wanted to use. One app I used before wanted **45 EUR per year** just for hosting tournaments. I'm all for developers getting paid, obviously, but that felt ridiculous for what it was. The bigger problem though was not even pricing. It was the service offered for the price. So first of all, an Americano is not a big deal. Just calculate the match plan, track the score and be done with it. The apps I tried felt like a replacement for pen and paper, not as an actually smart tool. Usually one enters the scores while 8 to 16 people are standing around waiting for the next round. The usual pain points for me were: - one person (usually me) becomes the score monkey for the whole group - everyone keeps gathering around one phone - entering names takes longer than it should - guests are forced into account creation way too early - score sync is either clunky or not really live - the whole thing gets awkward the second real people use it in a real club setting So that is what I built around. The main things Satzpunkt does: - create an Americano and share it by room code or QR - let people join fast, including as guests - let players enter scores from their own phones - instead of looking for their own names and where they play, **their names are highlighted on their own device** - **sync scores live across devices** - support spectators without giving them edit access - keep the whole flow moving without turning one person into tournament admin for the entire evening also, for the fun of it, I implemented a trivia card system which has fun facts about the matches in the tournament, e.g Player A and B destroyed Player C and D etc. These will be kind of like "Spotify Wrapped" and shareable as a PNG. I hope that this will be good for banter between friends in the Whatsapp Group after the Americano. I'm an ERP developer in my day job, and one thing that my mentor/lead developer taught me was this: **inputs should be built for power users**. If you've ever used a good POS system, or software with solid keyboard shortcuts/macros, you know the feeling. A well-designed input flow saves people a shocking amount of time. That mindset heavily influenced this app. I spent a stupid amount of time on small stuff like: - entering player names quickly - reducing taps where possible - auto score completion - live score sync that feels instant instead of "maybe it updates in a second" It is not the kind of work that looks flashy in screenshots, but I think you notice it the moment you actually use it. My main goal was simple: 1. create tournament 2. share room code / qr code 3. people join 4. start playing That part should be forgettable. It should not be the hard part of the evening. As for financing, my current thinking is: - it will absolutely be free to host Americanos - I plan for it to be free, or at worst a registered-user feature, to enter scores as a room guest - if people like the app, they can donate in the future once I actually add that button (not going to waste time for an ad button if no downloads are there yet) - I will probably add something like a Padel Nuestro "ad card" (no tracking, just a reflink) at the end of each tournament, and even that would be opt-out in settings. I think that's fair for the time saved to have this for me :\) I just don't want the business model to ruin the basic flow.
