From my experience it seems like experienced players, or those coming from tennis, prefer sand on the court as it allows them to slide, which they are able to do in a controlled manner.
New players however strongly dislike sand, as they see it as slippery and their slides are accidental and uncontrolled.
Would you agree with that?
I feel like sand makes me slip sometimes but that slip can prevent injury by giving the force somewhere to go. I don’t like when the sand is allowed to build up near the glass and you fall on your ass when you boast
I like sand and prefer sand as long as the court is well maintained, the sand is evenly spread and there’s not areas the sand accumulates dangerously as the slides and breaks become unpredictable.
If your not used to sand being on the court then of course you’d dislike it. I personally prefer it being someone who has been playing for almost a year and no racket background. I like how I can save some balls with a slide that i’d rather not be able to save, but I did fall many times at first😂
No sand for me. Could be hot take but any of the shot is to do whit sliding like tennis.
In local clubs only tennis players do sliding and I laugh to them because you can contra attack them easily.
Also you don't see any pro players to do that as well.
sand always, I don't come from tennis. Sand ensures the synthetic is in good condition longer, in courts with little nto no sand after some years the grass is like a stomped carpet and you slide even more than on a healthy court with sand
There is still a lot of sand on the ‘no sand’ court. But if you know padel, you prefer the ‘lesser’ sand court as is it also the premier padel turf and courts that have the most even bounce and spin response
Even though my background is decades of clay court tennis AND that I started playing padel on very sandy outdoor courts, I am now firmly in the no sand column. I mean, obviously there is some sand, but as little as possible, please.
I wouldn't really agree with your logic concerning player level.
Over here 90% of the courts are indoors and with modern carpet (very little sand). Everyone's used to it, and I haven't heard anyone say they prefer a lot of sand.
