Why does Tapia swap rackets?

To be honest, I work at Nox. When we design new rackets, we usually give Agus the chance to test different options and pick the one he likes the most. When he tried the 12K, he really loved it. That said, as many of you probably know, padel rackets can behave a bit differently depending on weather conditions. Temperature and humidity can slightly affect how the rubber and carbon feel during play. Because of that, he sometimes switches between rackets depending on the conditions. From our side, it honestly makes no difference whether we sell more 12K or 18K — both are part of the same line and developed with the same philosophy.

Looks like you this post was hijacked in favor of a NOX AMA 😉 I’ll throw one in as well if you don’t mind, I’ve been playing box for a few years and I notice the rackets have a lot of small imperfections where the texts are and how the decals sit. I keep reading here in the subreddit that it’s kind of a known NOX thing. Is that a thing discussed at the company ? Is it a misconception? I read about people buying rackets from a shop and thinking they might be fake bc of it

The manufacturing of rackets is still quite manual, believe it or not. Because of that, sometimes small cosmetic imperfections can slip through quality control. I’ll leave you a YouTube video where you can see a bit of the factory. https://youtu.be/eahbL13OLag?si=XERaoySdz6NXi8z-

Thanks for the feedback.. in theory which is supposed to be more on the powerful side (18k or 12k)?

the 12K is actually the more powerful option. When the carbon has fewer filaments per square centimeter, the contact surface becomes more homogeneous, which tends to generate more power on impact. With the new 12K XTREM carbon, this effect is even more noticeable because it provides an even larger and more uniform contact surface. That’s why many players feel the 12K as the more explosive option, while the higher-K carbons usually feel a bit firmer or more controlled.

What would you recommand to a new player as a buget option to buy and learn the game?

The ML10 Pro Cup is a mid-range racket that will last you a long time, and because of its round shape it’s more forgiving while you’re still developing your technique. And of course… lots of hours of lessons.

Hi there! This is not about rackets but about Nox shoes. As you work at Nox, could you tell me your preference: Lux or Pro? I had ML 10 hexa. Great shoe!! The only downside is that I felt my feet didn't breathe very well.
2
Well, I actually have the Luxury line for padel and the Pro line for pickleball. Both shoes are different in terms of design, mainly because they include different reinforcements depending on the specific movements required in each sport. In my experience the Luxury ones feel more breathable.

Why marketing is giving him the 18k in white? Be honest, there's people that just buy the racket because he is using it
1
Of course there are people who buy the racket just because Agus uses it, but that doesn’t mean the one he uses is always a white 18K. Sometimes he prefers to play with the 12K and other times with the 18K. And just like the carbon is not the same in those rackets, the rubber isn’t either — they are two different rackets.
1
I tested and like the AT10 12K 2025 but I can't find it here in my country. do you think I should just get the 12k 2026 or maybe the 18k 2026 because it has the same MLD black eva as the 12k 2025?
1
Where do you live? If you like the 12K you should probably go for the 12K 2026

By the end of 2025 Nox has released two rackets for Tapia. 12k White and 18k Black. In the master final he played with the black one but now in Gijon he played with the white.. is it only marketing thing or does it have to do with the court type, temperature, indoor/outdoor or other factors? If anyone tried both, what is your opinion about them? Which you think is easier to manoeuvre or possibly has larger sweetness spot and more forgiving? Would love to hear feedback 🙏🏼🌸 thanks in advance

The rumours are that the white one is in fact the 18k but with white paint, since Nox wanted to sell more 12k than the 18k this year.

Thanks for the feedback 🌸

From the photos you show he just used the one that matched his outfit, I haven’t looked at more examples so could be wrong

Yesterday he played the final wearing black but using the white racket though 🫢

I tried both and 12k is so bad, feel like hitting with no feeling at all, but the 18k is soooo good. No wonder there is rumour Tapia use 18k "white" so nox still can sell 12k

Goes with his outfit.

He was wearing black yesterday at the final but used the white racket

He’s not changing his racket he’s changing his mind. Players (in many sports) swap their tools to Instil a mental reset.

Thanks for the feedback 🌸

Different conditions, different racket. Look at tennis: they use the same frame but can alter their strings depending on conditions(indoor/outdoor, cold/warm, balls)

Thank you!

He looks much happier with the white racket - he should stick with that one :)

You are the GENIUS lol

La negra es una edición especial que sacaron a finales del 2025, no recuerdo el torneo, pero es la 18k

Because the smart folks at Nox have figured that this way they will sell a few more rackets. This has been asked multiple times, and I'm starting to feel like people are afraid their AT10 won't magically grant them Tapia's skills, if the man himself is using a different version. So good work Nox marketing! 👏
2
You are not wrong, but something tells me that for the 18k be the best selling racket is not only due to Tapia skills. It's a great racket that I see used for players at every level. I have one myself and I just love the feeling of it, to bad that it has so bad quality control.
1
They are great all-around rackets, agreed. Easy to play and work for a lot of people. Just don't get the obsession with which version Tapia himself is using.
1
I have an AT10 18K 2024 and I’m in love with it. The 12K models are too hard for me.
1
New to Padel Sport. Convert from tennis, baseline player, which padel would you recommend? What about Kevlar or 3k carbon surface?Would they be more powerful than 12k? Thank you.
1
The Nox rep pretty much confirmed it, different conditions call for different rackets. Temperature and humidity change how the rubber and carbon respond. Makes total sense he'd pick the 12K or 18K depending on indoor vs outdoor, cold vs warm.

The argument would make sense if they were the same rubbers and only the carbon exterior changed to a harder 12K when it’s hot, but they’re actually different rubbers. It took me about 5 matches to adapt to the HR3 Black EVA...weird.

Thanks for your attention
