Suggested Improvements for Playtomic

Just interested what others would want from the app as I have a few ideas of my own. 1) adjustable level ranges. Maybe there's a reason for it but I don't really want my upper range for matches to be 0.75 higher than me. 0.5? sure. Also if you are playing with someone weaker the range seems to be dictated by who creates the game. If it's a 2.5 and a 3.5 player then really the ideal range is probably 2.5-3.5 which is in between what it will give you automatically. 2) approval process- would be quicker if rather than everyone having to approve a player, that if it's a lower rated player (against the required rating range for that game) only the partner has to approve. (Obviously if it's higher then everyone should have to approve) 3) would be great to have an option to "join" a venue for anywhere you play regularly (and assuming you have a high reliability) so if someone is missing a player for a certain venue they have a list of regular players for that venue on the app, that they can message and see if they are available 4) linked to that idea it would be great if you knew what games someone had booked in a given week (doesn't need to specify a location). Gives you an idea of if people are or aren't available if youre looking for a 4th player.

I’d like to see the entire history of other people’s matches, friendly included, in a better way, not the graph with dots… a list that I can scroll would be better.

For point 3, they definitely have this capability, as the app allows memberships etc, so would just need to expand on it. Other points I don’t really agree on.

It's not a huge one because there are WhatsApp groups for quite a few venues near me but I think it would work better since I get a lot of WhatsApp message alerts about people looking for players which aren't relevant to me (too low and occasionally too high rated)

Completely agree with the level of opponent. I am rated a point lower than my playing partner who usually books the matches. Means theyre always at the higher level, there should be an option to customise it. One thing I dont understand is how ratings are impacted after a match. If we lose, my rating always drops slightly more than my partners, I am similar/better level just dont have as many 'friendly' results against my name to boost my score. Some transparency on how your score moves would be good

Have you played a lot less games than your partner? Lower reliability is the only reason I know of that can lower someone's rating more than a higher rated partner when the pair lose

13 less registered matches. My reliability is 61%, partners is 65%

I don't want to come in here and hijack your thread, but I actually built a small web app around the issue highlighted in point 3, just for filling a missing 4th or finding a game to jump into when someone drops out. Main reason was the same thing you mentioned, and I know a lot of this gets handled in WhatsApp groups, but loads of the messages are irrelevant because it’s the wrong club, wrong level, wrong time, etc. I’m still testing whether people would actually use something separate for this though. I'd be interested to know if people here use a standalone tool for that, or rather it just existed inside Playtomic? It’s live already, just early stage. Happy to share it with if you want to try it and give honest feedback.

I’m having this exact problem today, so I’ll check it out. What’s the link?

Ability to flip a private match to a public match whilst still being able to cancel if necessary. Ability to choose 60min open match instead of 90mins

Agree with points one and two!

I'd like to have a view of matches in common with other user and statistics of victory/loss as a partner/oppenent. I think this is not an hard feature but very useful.

This is already a feature, go onto their profile and press on ‘x matches in common’

Wow. Didnt know! Thx!

1) Padel is just not a game that is very enjoyable when partners have too big of a level difference. In my area a pairing of 2.5 and 3.5 implies a massive gap and a match spent in the fridge. What you are describing is already available for friendly matches. 2) Playing with a very low ranked player doesn't just affect the partner. It can also ruin the enjoyment for the opponents. 3) WhatsApp groups have the function in my experience. I would very quickly snooze any such chat though, since 99+% of notifications aren't relevant for me. 4) this comes off as a bit stalky. Given most people don't play in a ton of different clubs and your venues are predictable, I wouldn't want random people on a public app to have that sort of information about me.

1. It's a sub optimal set up but not the point really. If people want to play competitive games with their mates who aren't as good as they are then they should have the option to adjust the rating range to where they want it to be. I've actually seen games where it's competitive but it's available to everyone, which I find odd, but there you go 2. I'm referring to scenarios where someone is just under the required level. There's no way I would approve someone who's very low ranked and I imagine most others would be the same (unless it's a friendly) 3. exactly my point, what's app groups are good for information from the venue but fall down when you're looking for a player (or other people are, but you are a high enough level that you fall outside of most requests) 4. yeah I've had second thoughts about this one Could be a privacy issue. Maybe there's a better answer (like a player "calendar" where someone can update when they are available to play, it then gets removed if a game is agreed or a player cancels their avaibility)

As someone with over 800 matches in Playtomic, what I need most is to see the Matches in common with people, hate when I see matches in common and can't remember if they were good/bad experiences lol

I’d love to have a watchlist option for open matches. Sometimes there are only 1–2 players, and I’d prefer to wait and see who joins before deciding. It would be great to pin those matches at the top and get notifications when new players sign up. Also, notifications for out-of-range player approvals are very easy to miss. They should be “louder.”

I've never been able to vote on approval of a player, and it seems like the match creator can approve single-handedly. Is that just me?

If the player is out of range you should get a notification from playtomic that the player is asking to be approved. I'm talking open matches though I don't know if its different for private ones
