Who's fault is it?

So today me and my partner had a friendly match, we were quite stable and kept pinning our opponents backwards. But when our opponents decided to push us back, we got rekt because of our poor defence. Im an ex-tennis, i still struggle with the walls (especially when the ball is coming at me at a very high speed), so i just try to block the ball and hope for the best. Sometimes it works flawlessly, sometimes it doesnt. My partner on the other hand uses a very "predictable" strategy... he keeps rallying with one of the opponents back and forth, allowing them to analyse our position and catch us off guard. And when they push hard on us, i try to reset the rally with a really high lob landing just right in front of the glass. But my partner just straight up hands them the point with a poor lob, allowing them to whack the ball at me. A ball like that is literally impossible for me to counter-attack it or even block it, yet my partner yells at me for not "letting it bounce off the wall" and counter-attack it. We already lost the point before they even touched the ball. So who's fault is it? My partner's predictable strategy and poor lob or my bad skills with the wall?

Short lob is a crime in padel. I'd rather see you throw a lob outside the court.

I know, right? Like wtf am i supposed to do and WHY are you yelling at me like im the one who did it??? This is why i rarely played any doubles in tennis.

You might also be trying to volley/block shots that you should not be trying to volley/block. Walk/run to the net and wait for the bounce. That might be what your partner is saying. Makes sense.

Sounds like a classic padel partnership issue: one partner feeds the smash, the other becomes the target practice. I’d say the short lob is the real criminal here. 😅

Switch sides for one set, do the same short lobs and watch his footwork and return tactics. That is…if he manages to return them.  My assumption is you’re playing on the right?

Well. A partner playing short lobs from the left is literally giving free points to the opponent.
