Slightly active but willing to learn padel!

Hi everyone! I am living in Vlaardingen, Netherlands and I'm willing to learn padel. However, I am a little anxious to start because I am slightly active (full time office job and sometimes gym), I don't speak Dutch yet and I consider the courses for beginners very expensive. I'm willing to pay for some courses just that I don't know where to start...I have already downloaded Playtomic but I'm still not fully convinced. I really need somebody to be patient and open to expats. How did you guys started playing and how was your experience?

I live close by and am actually playing padel in Vlaardingen Sportcentrum tomorrow. I’m not sure what you’re asking though. The lessons are €250 for 10 hours which isn’t really expensive. If you can’t afford it and just want to play set your rating to 0.5 and just join matches, there’s not really any other way.

Hey! I totally understand how you feel. I actually didn’t even like padel at first while all my friends were obsessed with it. I only started because they invited me to watch their tournament.. and I just wanted to be part of the happiness I saw there, lol In the beginning, I was anxious too. I bought my racket, padel shoes, watched YouTube tutorials (padel school), took a few coaching sessions, and even rented a court alone and hired a ball boy just to practice my serves for an hour because I didn’t want to feel like a burden to anyone. 🤣 When I finally joined matches on apps like Playtomic, I only signed up for beginner games. So trust me, it’s completely normal to feel unsure. My advice: start with beginner matches and just mention you’re new, take a few lessons (not necessarily a full expensive package), don't wait until you feel “good enough.” You improve by playing. And about the language: most Dutch people speak great English, especially in sports communities. Don’t let that stop you. You just need to start. 😊

In Singapore I pay €600 for 12 hours of group lessons with 3 other classmates (fat load of good that does when most courts here aren’t sheltered so lessons keep getting postponed because of rain, but anyway I digress). Anyway, if there is any app you use to arrange friendly matches, you can fix matches there and explain that you are a newbie. Should be someone willing to teach you the ropes.

Create or join a friendly match. People will see your rating and join if they are a beginner or willing to play with beginners
