❔ Question ❔

How do you practice without a coach or by yourself?

I used to play golf and golf is easy to train cause you dont need anyone. I live in Portugal and as far as I know there are no clubs with the automatic ball throw which makes it hard for me to practice shots without paying for a 1 on 1 class. Does anyone have any insight? How can I practice technique without a coach?

Your technique has to very good to practise technique whitout a coach. If your technique is good how would you improve without a coach. You Will properly train your bad technique

I can confirm that even with a coach you can train bad technique, whahha.

I would agree, but lets say I did a bandeja class and he taught me the technique and I would want to put it into practice, like really make it natural and automatic. During practice matches I get maybe 30-50 chances to do that? I would like to maybe in 1 hour hit like 300 and then not have another class with a coach which would cost a bunch but just to practice what he taught me

I train during the matches. If I play with someone of above level, I just try to make as few unprovoked mistakes as possible. If I play with someone of below level, I try to win points or test shots whenever possible. Always try to catch any point possible by proper positioning

If you would like to practice technique without a coach lets say viboras, in matches you want to win so you wouldnt really be trying out that many variations or really practicing the technique.

I don’t really care about winning

Wall practice is your friend. Find a wall and work on volleys, drives, and positioning. Also try recording yourself playing matches to spot patterns in your mistakes. I built PadelTracker to help analyze match stats, but for technique the wall is honestly the best free practice tool.

yes im guessing this is the most acceptable thing I probably would have to compromise and do, practicing on the wall thanks!

Shadow padel: you imagine yourself in a match situation and drill a certain shot with a racket and without a ball. You repeat it 50 times per shot so that your muscle memory internalizes it. Of course there's the risk that you repeat the wrong thing and your body learns it without a coach's feedback. So you can have a coach show you the proper technique first and then go home and imitate this movement without a ball.

I dont think i have the patience to do that unfrotunately hahahha but really interesting to see if it actually works

Wall practice is definitely the way to go, especially for volleys and drives. Focus on consistent contact point and follow through. Portugal has some great club walls that work well for this. For positioning, try playing against stronger opponents when possible - you'll learn defensive positioning faster than any solo drill can teach.

Get some coaching, focus on translating that to your normal play... same as golf.

Man's wavelength is golf. Anyone who's never seen a pro or coach once to look at their swing will forever have a shit swing.
