Is padel your Roman Empire? Are there strings attached? (asking for science)

I’m doing a psychology project looking at how adults experience playing recreational racket sport at all levels. I’m interested in why so many of us keep turning up, travelling far and wide to play, all in the name of enjoyment. Spaces like this forum are probably proof of how invested we are, sharing advice, analysing matches and looking for ways to get better. If you’re 18+ and play any racket sport, I’d really appreciate you taking part in a short anonymous survey. It takes about 5–10 minutes and it’s for university research. I know people are busy, so thanks genuinely to anyone who takes the time to do it. And if you’re happy to share it with clubs or other racket sport groups where appropriate, that would be appreciated too! https://openss.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV\_5C1472LWS3ioD1Y

Done - I answered for pickleball since I usually play 4-5x a week vs Padel which I play 1-2x a week if I’m lucky. You might want to also post this over in r/pickleball if you haven’t already.

That’s much appreciated thank you! Unfortunately it was deleted as it was deemed to be market research, but I might try to contact the mods and see if they’d reconsider. Thanks again!

Hey, sorry to hear that. I’ve gone on to it and checked and all seems okay my end, so I’m not sure why that would be! Thanks for raising it though!

It’s a bit skewed because the answers I have for tennis which I’ve played for 25 years will be vastly different from Padel which I’ve played for 2 years.

Totally relate to that! I guess it’s whichever sport you consider to be your primary sport at this moment in time. Thanks so much for taking the time though!

Some of these questions are a bit weird. For example, what is it worth to you to know that: > I almost never agree with the statement that I wonder if my sport is worth all the time and energy put into it. "To which extent" is not necessarily the same as "how many hours a week". The former is qualitative (imo), the latter is quantitative. So mixing those up makes it hard for me to properly answer these questions.

Hi, firstly thank you for taking the time to even look at it, much appreciated. That’s a fair point. The items come from established sports psychology scales, so they’re trying to capture the feeling or tendency rather than something measurable like age or hours played. It’s more about how strongly the statement resonates with you, which then gets translated into a number. Surveys definitely have their limitations though.
