❔ Question ❔

Is one group class and one 1 on 1 class the best combination?

I have only done 1 on 1s, and im learning a lot of technique which is great, I heard group classes are good for strategy and learning about the game but havent tried, my friend suggested doing 1 group class and 1 individual class My concern is that I am not that good technically and feel like doing 2 private classes might be better than 1 individual and 1 group class so I can focus more on improving technique which is a lot that I need to cover Since im still quite early to the sport is the time better spent on individual classes only for maybe 3 months until my technique on most shots is better? Or should I incorporate one of each? I cant do more than 2 a week cause money and also would like to play casual games and tournaments outside of that Thanks for any advice!

Depending on your level group classes can be a bit useless. Trying to practice a technique while someone feeds you terrible shots is not a great use of time. With 1:1 you get a lot more high quality reps I think until intermediate people should focus on 1:1s as only at that stage will playing with other members of the same level start to become efficient for drills.

That makes a lot of sense, yes agreed. 1 on 1s the improvement feels very impactful, Im guessing group classes takes a few classes to learn about the game. Will defo try it out to see how it is

I think it's a smart move if you are a beginnner+/intermediate. Group classes will teach you gameplay tactics and strategy that are hard to practice alone. Privates give you the drills for the technique with focus and attention that you can't have in a group class. Combining both makes you an all-around player.

Yes definitely, will try out group classes and if I like it Ill probably have a nice balance of once a week for individual adn group. Seems like the best combination to learn both technique and the game, thanks

Yeah, focus on technique first, which is best done in the one on one format if you can afford it.

I've never had 1:1 classes because they're so damn expensive. You can get 4 group classes for the price of 1 personal class. Just make sure the group is all around the same level.

Private class 80 euro plus normal class 20 euro is 100 euro per week. On top of normal court rental..

Yes 1 on 1 is super expensive, for me its around 2 group classes is equivalent to 1 private class, which is not so bad, since group classes you get a fourth of the time, so might be worth it for me. Yes same level group is essential thanks for pointing that out

A good coach can teach you both technique and tactics, no matter how many people are in the class. However, with less people (1:1) you get way more balls so way more practice. And with more people tactics will feel more real. You could try a group (your level or slightly higher). Ask your coach.
