Padel & pregnancy: anyone else?! (Current or previous)

Just curious if there are any women in this group who are open to sharing their experiences with pregnancy and continuing to play padel. I’ve had a VERY easy pregnancy so far, and have played from the day I found out I was pregnant, until now (6 months pregnant). However, I’m starting to feel tired and heavier (+20 kg) and getting some pulling/stretching in my stomach. This doesn’t really happen during padel, but more so random times at home etc. I usually play 3-4 times a week, around playtomic level 3,3 with other women. I spoke to my doctor today, who basically told me to stop “whenever I feel it’s time” …. that didn’t help. So my questions are: 1. If you have played padel pregnant, when did you stop? 2. What feelings did you have that contributed to stopping? I guess bottom line is I know I probably should stop now, and I guess I will…. I just know I’m going to miss the exercise and social aspect. Also husbands, if this relates to your wife, feel free to chime in!

My wife is around 6-7 months pregnant, and she will get those same pains in lower stomach after physical activity. Even long grocery store trip can cause it for hours in the evening. So I would imagine padel would cause it too

I assume you’re taking the necessary precautions to avoid anyone with a strong smash. I wouldn’t play against a pregnant woman unless it was a prearranged soft game/ pass around. Great job keeping active though. Congrats on the baby

Probably not super useful for you but: I played until like week 8. Then first trimester hit me like a freight train and by the time could manage to play again i wasn't super comfortable playing hard. I've always had some issues related to hyper mobility so I was also extra cautious because I did NOT want to hurt myself while pregnant. So I played extremely chill friendly games for a month or so until i was maybe 4.5 months along. At this point it got too hot for me (it was a horrible summer and we only have outdoor courts here) so I tapped out. Generally for me, my decision with sports was: do I feel stable and reasonably confident I won't fall/hurt myself in my current state? If not, I wouldn't do it or make accomodations. And the other question was: do I feel ok when playing? Like, am I overheating? Am I having pains when I'm playing or after?

I believe it would be hard to play because a s a team of two, the baby wouldn’t be able to hold a racket inside a woman, so it would probably also break the rules

but what if you swallowed a tiny racket?

At 6-7 months pregnant I would walk as exercise and nothing else. I'm not a doctor but that's what I would do. You are about to have a baby, come on. I'm sorry but this is pretty bad. This is an impact sport.

FYI basketball is an impact sport, padel is not. and yes walking is good, but activities like swimming or yoga are good too!

In padel you run around, jump, can get hit by a ball or your partner.

I haven’t play pregnant, but my partner used to play pregnant and when started to notice their pregnancy was really hard to get matches.. No one wants to play with pregnant bc they didn’t want to smash it in her belly I guess.. So she started to play with lower levels.. Pd: I’m from Chile and it’s more common use wssp groups to create matches. 2 Pd: I’ve heard a few times that some men’s avoid play with women bc is like play with a pregnant woman XD 3 Pd: I hope that you have a wonderful pregnancy and you baby can play with a tiny pala (racquet)

My wife has been playing all of her pregnancy (7 months now), but being careful with the “effort” part accordingly. Meaning, she used to play at a good level, mostly playing men. For the last 3 months or so she only plays other women or me in a “cruzado”. It is like any other activity, if it hurts or at medical risk do not do it, if you feel good during and after playing just adjust the effort!

That makes sense. And she sounds like me! Thank you.
