I’m a padel player who learned to code to build a free match & stats tracker. It’s finally live on the Play Store! 🎾📊

Hi everyone! I’m a padel enthusiast who, like many of you, wanted a better way to track my matches, see my win rate, and keep an eye on my head-to-head records against regular opponents. Since I’m also a beginner programmer, I decided to take this as a learning project and build my own app: **Padel Tracker**. After months of work and feedback from early testers, it’s finally live on the Google Play Store! **What is Padel Tracker?** It’s a simple, no-nonsense Android app to: * 📝 **Log your matches:** Save date, location, level, score, and players. * 📊 **Track your stats:** See your overall win rate and performance trends. * 👥 **Manage Partners & Opponents:** Keep a history of who you play with/against. * 📈 **Head-to-Head:** View your records against specific rivals. * 🎯 **Performance Notes:** Write down what went well (or what needs work) after each match. **The best part:** This is a hobby project. The app is **completely free, has no ads, and no monetization**. I’m not looking to make money; I just want to provide a tool that helps us enjoy our favorite sport even more. **Feedback is welcome:** Since I’m the sole developer, I’m always looking for ways to improve it. If you have any suggestions or find any bugs, please let me know! **Links & Privacy:** * **Play Store:** [https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.chanchoc.frontend](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.chanchoc.frontend) * **Privacy Policy:** [https://chanchoc.github.io/padel-tracker/privacy-policy/](https://chanchoc.github.io/padel-tracker/privacy-policy/) (Full GDPR/CCPA compliance information is available here). Thanks for reading and see you on the court! 🚀

Genuinely asking, what's the main advantage over Playtomic from your perspective? :)

That's a great and very fair question! Playtomic is definitely the giant in the industry, but Padel Tracker comes from a different angle: 1. **Platform Independence:** Playtomic is great if the clubs you play at use their system. Here in Argentina (and many other places), Playtomic isn't widely used. My app allows you to log matches from **any** club, private court, or tournament, regardless of what software they use. 2. **Granular Stats & Filters (for free):** Playtomic often locks advanced statistics and insights behind their "Plus" subscription. I wanted to build something where you can deep-dive into your performance, filter by partner, opponent, or location, and see your head-to-head records without any paywalls or ads. 3. **Privacy & Focus:** Some players find Playtomic a bit "noisy" with the social feed and ranking points. This app is a pure, private tool for you. It’s just your data, your notes, and your progress. No social pressure, just tracking. 4. **Born from Necessity:** As I mentioned, where I live, we didn't have a reliable way to keep a history of our games. I built this to fill that gap for myself and other players in similar situations. It's not meant to compete with a booking giant, but to be a dedicated "digital notebook" for the curious player!

Thank you for the detailed explanation, I really appreciate it! Do you know if Playtomic has an API you could use? I mean, personally I am not too much interested in such kind of data (yet). But if I were, I think if would find it much more convenient if I don't have to insert all this information like date and time of match, opponents, results etc manually. This is maybe out of scope for your project, but I can imagine that inserting information manually might be a deal breaker for others. :)

I really like it...Congratulations! Obviously, I'd ask for it in Spanish 😉 And although I understand it's an app to keep a personal record of your matches, I'd also like it to be able to add upcoming matches (it doesn't let me choose a date on the calendar...) so then I'd only have to add the missing information. Thanks. And again...congratulations!

Thank you so much for the kind words! I’m really glad you’re enjoying the app. To address your points: 1. **Spanish Version:** ¡Absolutamente! Being from Argentina, Spanish is a top priority for me. I’m currently working on the localization and the next update will definitely include Spanish support. 😉 2. **Upcoming Matches:** That is a fantastic suggestion. I originally designed it as a "post-match log," but I totally see the value in "pre-loading" a match so you only have to enter the score later. I will unlock the calendar to allow future dates and add a "pending" status for those matches in the next release. Thanks again for the feedback, this is exactly what helps me make the app better for everyone.

Any plans for iOS?

If you have an apple watch, you can try RallyN https://apps.apple.com/se/app/rallyn-tennis-padel-stats/id6747454094?l=en-GB If you don't mind... What would you like to get out of it if you could just set the scores manually instead of having a watch app to use in-game and get stats later?

I’d love to! Since the app is built with React Native, a big part of the work is already done. However, as a solo developer, the $99/year Apple developer fee and the need for a Mac to build the app are the main hurdles right now. If I see enough interest from the community, I’ll definitely look into making it happen!
